Mood board for our new office/studio apartment.

We're currently in the middle of building our studio apartment/office space on top of our garage.

We are still a couple of months away from completion but my mind has turned away from all of the construction dust and engineering to the fun part of the build, the decor.

As it is going to be a multi purpose space I want it to be functional but still stylish.
I've kept the palette simple and neutral with my favourite colour white featuring throughout.
The white will be broken up with colour from plants, artwork and the warmth of brass accents and some rattan and wood furniture.

I can't wait to show you the space once it all comes together!

Around here lately.....

I've been a little quiet here on the blog and my other social media lately as I just don't seem to find the time to pop in and post like I used to. So today I decided to share a little look at how the house is looking lately. As we've said goodbye to Summer I like to change the rooms up slightly each season. Hey, it's just my thing! Whether that means bringing in items from another room in the house, moving furniture or just adding a new cushion.
It's the little things that can freshen a space and give it a new look.

Noah's room below had a little makeover. The prints, wall weave and plants were from other rooms but I love how they look grouped together here. His new drawers add extra storage as he needed a little more now that he has started school. Plus the wood injects a little warmth into the neutal space.

My little desk space received a refresh with some new Jasmine Dowling prints.
The space is tiny so there's not much to it but I'm loving the peachy tones at the moment.

My sitting room just received a cushion change up. The cushions from the main living room were moved in here for a new look. I'm still loving the pinks and neutral tones. It feels perfect for Autumn.
Last year we put doors on all of our Billy Bookcases in this room and it gives the room a more serene feel.
Just don't open the cupboards! They're full to the brim! Also look how well my plants are doing here.
The devils ivy seems to love this spot!

Jasper's room received a little change up with his bed being moved onto a different wall and a refresh of his artwork. Weave and prints were from other rooms in the house. I added a new plant for some greenery. The main pop of colour comes from his rug. The colours are a gorgeous combination.

The main bedroom stayed the same. Still loving the wall hanging above the bed.
As you know bed linen is my weakness! It really can change the whole feel of the room.
I couldn't resist this green quilt cover and I'm loving the combination with pink pillowcases.

The entrance way is still feeling very summery with my hats and bags so I will have to change that a little when the weather gets cooler. At the moment they're both still getting a work out!

Our Weekend

On Saturday night Simon and I decided to check out the Night Noodle Markets in Hyde Park. It was the last night and was part of Sydney's Good Food Month.

We  had heard it was busy but we had no problems getting food and a seat quickly.
The dumplings were delish!

St Mary's Cathedral across the road always looks beautiful but especially at night.

On Sunday after taking the kids to a party in the morning, it was lovely to have the afternoon just pottering around at home.

I took the chance to pop up to Bunnings and grab some new Hydrangeas for the pots near the front door.

Simon painted up a round table I found at Vinnies months ago.
I had been looking for one for about a year.
It had to be just right.

I didn't take any pics of the table pre paint job but it was just an ordinary old pine table.
Isn't it amazing what white paint can do?

We used a semi gloss enamel on it so it should handle the wear and tear of family dining :)
I'm so happy with it. It lends a really fresh feel to the space. I love how the ghost chairs go with everything.

I also got caught up in the early Christmas decorations on display at Domayne. I had to add these ones to my collection.

How was your Sunday?

All photos are my own. They were taken on my new iPhone 5s.
I'm loving the new crispness and clarity in my pics.

It's faux!

So after the renovations inside (pics and info to come) our thoughts turned to outside.
Especially as the warmer weather is coming we wanted to make outside more comfortable, nicer and neater.

The boys are always in the backyard either using the skateboard ramp, in the cubby or kicking a ball around.

Along with a dog and rabbit that like to dig holes, the yard was looking a little tired and unloved.

Simon wanted an easier and maintenance free option and as it is his "domain" I let him go with his idea of artificial grass. Although I never thought I would have it in my backyard I have to admit the yard looks neater and is more user friendly (no bindies and holes!) and it looks always looks lovely and green ;)

Day 1

Day 2

We are spending more time out there and the "grass" is actually nice and soft and great for the boys to play on. I'm thinking I will eventually get my backyard back in about 15 years(!!!) when everyone is done with skating and won't wreck the grass ;)
Back in your cage Fifi!

Inside looking out

The dog doesn't seem fazed by it and the rabbit is not allowed to roam free on it.
It's working for us for now, we'll see how it goes!!

all images my own
We used a company located in Botany called The Grassman
The whole yard only took 2 days, the guys were great and cleaned up all their mess.
So wonderful after a drawn out renovation!!

At home.

A few bits n bobs around the house :)

Loving my new doormat from "Holy Sheet" (just love that name!), feeling very regal when I enter the house ;). Also I replanted my barrels with New Guinea Impatiens. Fingers crossed they take!

I also attempted some ribbon writing on my lounge room wall. Inspired by this, hmmm, not sure if I'm 100% happy with this. I think I should have used some thicker ribbon. It was a little tricky, I couldn't get a "flow" going but it is easily changed :)

Picked up these 2 things from Bed, Bath n Table the other day.
Did I need them, well no but they are so cute!

These cute little glass bottles.
Perfect for the individual stems :)

And this white owl.
Another one, what can I say I love owls!

I have left my little home in peace for the last few months but now I feel like a little change! Stay tuned!

Mirror, mirror on the wall......

Another fab find of mine recently were these mirrors from Target.
They go perfectly with the room and I love how the reflect the rest of the space.

The other pieces in the room are lounges and coffee table (it's actually a kids play table) from Freedom.
Blue and white cushions, owl and lamp from Domayne.
Floral cushions from Cotton On Kids.
(they are doing the cutest stuff! I spoke about it here)
Bird cage from That Bali Shop
(a shop in Narrabeen that sells furniture from Bali, who would have thought!)
Ikea rug and jam jar used as a vase.
The hanging driftwood was a present from my husband (love that he adores homewares too!)
Some lovely books from my collection and the flowers are from my boys from Valentines Day.
Bob the Builder tool bench poking up from behind belongs to Jasper
Dash the dog has been very good and I think he has lost his taste for chewing and weeing on rugs.
 Lets hope!

In the background I painted our old fence palings and hung them above the buffet. Simple :)

Now let's see how long it takes me to get tired of this!

Something new.....

I found these cushions and throw in Cotton On Kids.

Ok, yes it was meant for a little girls room but I love the colours so much that I wanted them for me!

The throw is actually a single bed coverlet. Guess how much the cushions were? $12 = bargain!
I loved them soooo much I even bought a few for the lounge room to mix in with my blues. The wall art above the bed is from Freedom.

I really wanted a juju hat but that was WAY over my budget.
I'm thinking about spray painting it white to make it really pop!

And yes I have changed over my rugs!
I was ready for a break from the green:)
I have a few other things to show you soon.

Any new changes at your house lately?

Some new bits and pieces.

I've been pottering around at home for the last couple of days.
I'm in the mood for changing things around and adding a few new bits and pieces.

I reconfigured the lounges in an L shape and bought a new round white coffee table for a pop of freshness.
It is not really a coffee table it is the Willow kids table from Freedom but it works perfectly.
I have also put up the bunting I got for Christmas above the doors.
It is adding a holiday vibe at the moment :)

This is my new "work" station.  I bought a couple of the prints and the rest I made myself.
Does this give you a little hint about my new little project?  :)
Desk is the Willow desk from Freedom. Ghost chair from my garage ( I had a couple of spares!), candelabra, milk bottles and peg from Domayne. Star from Jedos. Laptop from Santa :)

I also changed around the entry way.

I replaced the bench with my mirrored console for something different.
The print is one I made, my books and the white bowl was an engagement present (12 yrs ago!) and the & is from Typo. Hanging Driftwood was from Lotus Living.

So there you go.  A few little changes.
How about you? Have you made any changes around your home lately?
