Thursday's Thoughts

I'm in a bit of a bookish mood at the moment as I've been reading each night instead of going online.
So relaxing to end the night with a good book.

Read anything interesting lately?
I've got a few books lined up. I love that!

I've got a post coming up with what I'm reading, some of my old favourites and what's by my bedside waiting to be read x

How to style a bookcase.

I've been getting a few requests to share some of my tips on how to style a bookcase.
1. Lots of books in different colours and sizes.
As I'm an avid bookworm I have tons of books. I've given them a bit of order by colour coding them.

2. Mix in a few knick knacks.
Photos, ginger jars, globes, artwork, animal figures, a collection of shells, my champagne chairs and a big letter S are some of the things I've used.

3. Have a variety of heights.
Place books different ways, have a mixture of high and low on each shelf.

4.Display what you love.
It will make you smile each time you walk past.

5.Research.
Browse Pinterest, magazines etc and be inspired by other's ideas.

6.Keep Playing.
Keep playing around until it looks right. You will always change them up as you add a new book or little knick knack. They are a reflection of you and your taste. Have fun with it!

Here are some other bookcases I love :

I love the idea of wallpaper as a backing on this bookcase above. I think this works because the rest of the bookcase has a neutral/simple palette.

What are your tips for styling a bookcase?

Bookish Love!

So I am starting to think about my Christmas Wish Lists. I like to blog these or leave them lying around at home to give everyone a little hint ;)

Books are always a great gift to receive I think, especially a glossy coffee table book. As it is not always something you would buy for yourself.

Some of the ones that have caught my eye are:

I loved The Selby interiors book so would love to take a look at this foodie one.

I adored Grace Coddington in the September  Issue, she totally stole the show. Would love to know a bit more of her history.

I'm a huge Kate Moss fan so I HAVE to own this book. There is something about her aesthetic that I just love.

The photography in this book by blogger Katie Quinn is exquisite, even if I never made any of her recipes I would just love to stare at the photos.

I love a quirky crafty book and this Beci Orpin one looks like it would hit the spot :)

This Kylie Minogue fashion book isn't out until next year but I would love to take a look at all her costumes and fashion choices. I kind of feel like I've grown up with her.

Hmmm, seems I'm all about food or fashion at the moment! I think now that the house is complete I am having a break from my Interior books :)

How about you? Are books on your Christmas list?

Ooh la la!

I'm going gaga over anything about Paris at the moment.
I don't know why I go through these phases but I'm loving this one :)
Here are some of the books that caught my eye lately and made me realise that there is a theme going on here!

I do have these stamps from Typo (although this pic is not mine)
I should make something!

I have been to Paris, though only for a few days but I can't wait to get back there one day.

Have you been to Paris, what is your favourite thing about that beautiful city?

My latest Book love!

My new favourite book is Paper + Craft
by Minhee & Trumann Cho of Paper + Cup.

So many gorgeous pictures and easy to do step by step directions to create these fabulous creations.

I'm sure I will need some mustache straws one day!

Perfect for all that free time I have to craft ;)
One more thing to add to my "want to do" list!

Have you come across any fabulous crafty books lately?

Project Jasper's Room.

Jasper's room as been a project that I have been wanting to tackle for a few months now.

My inspiration!

My little boy is almost 4 and it is time for a clean out and time to put away those toys that he has lost interest in.Time to say goodbye to Thomas the Tank Engine and all his friends, cuddly stuffed toys (of course the favourites will stay!)

a wall map is a must!

Some fresh colours and a little reading nook for him to enjoy some quiet time with his beloved books. I also want to use some of my prints (and others) plus Jasper's drawings to create a little gallery wall as well.

love this idea of rain guttering used as book shelves

Ahhh the planning stages are so much fun!

I'm loving the idea of a colour combination of blue and green with a splash of red. Ok, time to order that wall map!

Have a beautiful day
Simone xx

Ps - I can't bear to give/throw away his baby toys so they will be living in a box in the garage, I love the idea of saving some of Jasper's toys for his children. Ahhhh, imagine!

Love this idea.

Love this idea for a Party!
Don't you think this is fabulous?
Isn't it amazing when you really connect with a book and want to share it with everybody.
I was thinking about which book I would bring and it is such a hard decision!

I've been thinking back to my first favourite books as a child and I remember loving the book "Black Beauty". I remember reading it several times.
I'm thinking about collecting my childhood favourites again. A little bit sentimental :)

What is your favourite book? And why that one?

I'm always on the look out for my new favourite :)

Book Club.

I had Book Club last night.
We just finished reading "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield.
It was a great book with lots of twists.
Actually after listening to everybody talking about it and answering the questions I realised I had missed all these clues etc so I will definately have to read it again :)

Our next book is a classic "Wuthering Heights".
I remember reading it in high school but I am looking forward to reading it again.

I love being a part of a Book Club.
It is kinda geeky but I love that I have found people as passionate about books as I am.

Are you reading anything lately?
Do you have any books to recommend?

Book Club

I have always wanted to be part of a book club and when I mentioned it to Belinda from Cupcakes, Frocks and Pink she kindly invited me to her book club!

So I have my first "meeting" tonight!

I had to read the book "Room" by Emma Donoghue which I was a bit apprehensive about at first as I was thinking it might be too sad but I was surprised.

What a fantastic book, one of the best I have read in quite a while!
Other book worms out there should definately read it :)
