It's been a black + white week.

So it's the first day of Autumn today and it seems fitting that my tastes have strayed a little from colour and moved towards black and white.

It all started with these rugs I bought from Ikea. I wanted to change the natural sisal one over to something a little cosier and softer for Noah. (that's my excuse!)

I am loving the black + white stripes with the black floorboards and the white walls. It makes the little spots of colour pop even more!

I also couldn't resist buying this b+w chevron mug from Woolies,to use as a vase. It looks perfect next to the lightbox.

And I found myself dressed in b+w today. I'm co-ordinating with the cushions! Black jeans and a dotty top from Trenery :) Cushions from Freedom.

Now I'm just about to have a little bit of brownie and vanilla ice-cream. May as well keep the theme going! ;) Do you every find yourself surrounded by certain colours? (or lack of them like me!)

Bookcase Love!

Well I have one of my bookcases in and "styled" up and I love it!

Big hugs and kisses to Simon for doing an amazing job with the Billy bookcases from Ikea. We ended up going with 5 Billy bookcases (4 large and 1 small), bookcase extenders and doors. We saved over $3000 going with this option instead of having them custom built. You can't beat that! Although I don't think Simon wants to look at another flat pack for a while :)

Just a few finishing touches to go, like the trims around the bookcases to give that "built in" feel.

I'm proud to say all the bits n bobs are from my cupboards. I knew they would be used eventually :)

So what do you think?

The progress.....

The flat pack king!

The inspiration.

So I wrote a while ago about some plans that I had for the house. Including wall to wall bookcases in two of the rooms.
We had a couple of quotes for custom made pieces and almost fainted! I just couldn't justify the cost!

I knew I still wanted them but I had to find the less expensive option. So off to Ikea I went :)

My handyman is very good, the job should be finished tonight and then I get to do the fun bit and style it up!

The room will be rearranged, the brown cabinet will be moved to another room.
Pictures next week :)

How are you with the flat packed stuff or are you happy to leave it to the "handy man"?

Speaking of flat packs etc, how good is The Block this year?!
I'm really enjoying it so far. Are you watching?
