Dinner & a movie

It's been a while since Simon and I have had a chance to go out to the movies.
We decided to got out and see Hitchcock last night and have a bite to eat afterwards.

Simon always chooses a boysenberry choc top (such a random flavour, don't you think?), we both shared the popcorn and a diet coke to balance out the calories ;)

I really enjoyed the movie as it was a great cast, great acting and an interesting story. It was a nice balance between his professional/personal life and the story behind Psycho.

After the movie we decided to head down to Manly to have some dinner (you know popcorn doesn't fill you up!). We decided on Hugo's near the wharf. It was such a lovely balmy night and there were so many people out just enjoying themselves with picnics, icecreams and watching the ferry's come and go.

I took advantage of being out and ordered a cocktail.
I chose the Sunset Geisha - a blend of vodka, strawberry & lychee liqueur and grapefruit juice, passionfruit and a hint of rose. It slipped down a little too easily!!

We ordered pizzas.I couldn't finish my mushroom one but Simon demolished his and half of mine. It was so nice to sit and chat over a nice dinner we didn't cook :)

As we walked back to the car, we had to walk past Gelatissimo and  made a note to come back another time!

When's the last time you went to the movies? What did you see?
What's your favourite gelato flavour?

Delicious Dinner

Simon and I had a night off from the kids the other day and decided to treat ourselves to a dinner out.

We decided to try Pony Lounge and Dining, which is on the corner of Argyle Pl & Kendall Lane in The Rocks.

The atmosphere was very sexy , moody vibe. Felt a little like a french bistro. The space is quite narrow so you are sitting quite close to your neighbours. So a personal conversation is a bit out of the question! But the food was the best I have had for a long time and the service was professional and attentive.

We were starving by the time we got there as the only availabilty they had was for 8.30pm. We usually eat around 6pm - 6.30pm with the kids!!

We decided to share the Grilled Italian flat bread with smoky eggplant & white bean dip and these lovely little pork and fennel chippolata sausages to start with.

They were the perfect little plates, enough but not too much to fill you up before our mains.

I had the Cutlet of grain fed pork, crackling, white bean puree, sauteed sprouts ( I couldnt stop raving about the brussel sprouts, who knew!) and Simon had the Sirloin, thick cut chips, watercress salad, bearnaise sauce. Hubby is quite particular about his steak and he said it was cooked to perfection.

We couldnt quite fit it all in but it was wonderful to walk out feeling so satisfied.

All in all a terrific dinner out.  We will definately be returning :)
