Noah turns 9!

There was a birthday in the house yesterday, Noah turned 9!

We celebrated on the weekend with his friends from school with a bowling and laser tag party and a soccer themed cake.

Then we had presents and a family birthday dinner last night with a chocolate sundae in lieu of a cake. Noah loves tacos and as his birthday fell on a Tuesday it was perfect for a Taco Tuesday/ Birthday Fiesta theme. I picked up the party decorations from Big W and decorated the table with a few bits n pieces from around the house.

The years are flying by and I can't believe the baby of the family is 9 and getting so grown up!

I've popped up some photos from his birthday celebrations below...

A special milestone - a 70th birthday

On the weekend we celebrated a very special milestone for my father in law, his 70th birthday.
As the family is spread out over the world at the moment we couldn't all get together so on the weekend we got the Sydney crew together for dinner to wish him the happiest of birthdays.
I've popped some photos up below of the night.....

To decorate the table I shopped my cupboards and pulled out my go to tree stumps as a base. I then added a few cactus + succulents for greenery and the copper mugs added some warmth. I then added the "Paul" blocks to personalise the setting. I  find it difficult to create centrepieces for our round table as it is quite large so you need something substantial. Also it has to be low so it doesn't obsure guests faces and make conversation difficult. I'll keep searching for ideas!
The letter boards were a great way to display the cocktail of the night and a special birthday message I found on Pinterest.

Shop the look......

Our round table was an amazing op shop find. You don't find this size often!

Noah turns 5!

We've had a lovely few days celebrating Noah turning 5.  On his actual birthday we had presents, cupcakes at kindy and a birthday cake for afternoon tea. We well and truly celebrated his day!

On the weekend we had family over for a birthday lunch with a super hero theme.
I wanted to decorate but also keep it simple so I decided to get out the butcher paper and paint and make a little 'cityscape' backdrop and "superhero" table runner.  I used Noah's toys for the centrepieces and bought a pack of mixed masks from Big W's party shop to use for place settings, colour and add a bit of fun. Coloured balloons tied to the chandelier finished off the party feel.

This is probably my last super hero party for the boys! They have all went through their Spiderman/Batman phases and it's such a fun stage.

We had Pimms + a platter to start, bbq and salad for lunch and a delicious chocolate cake to finish up.
The kids played a couple of intense games of "pin the badge on Batman" and "pass the parcel"
I love the excitement on their faces!

We made some "thank you" chocolates up to give to everyone as they left. We bought the chocolates from Woolies (a mix of milk + white chocolate), unwrapped the outer wrapper and popped on our own one that we made. A cute little way for Noah to thank his guests :)

Happy birthday to our gorgeous Noah! We hope you had the most wonderful birthday.
We love you! xx

Mum's 60th Birthday

Mum turned 60 yesterday and I wanted to give her a special day as we celebrated this milestone.
She didn't have a party this year as friends and family are scattered everywhere so I decided to put together a day that she would enjoy and know how much we love her.

The boys gave Nanna her gifts and enjoyed flicking through the photo books that we made her.

Then Simon, Finn and I took her out for lunch at Manly Wine.
The sun was shining and we had a table right near the window looking out to the beach.
Champagne + grapefruit margaritas added to the delish lunch!

Later in the afternoon I arranged for a few friends and family to pop in for afternoon tea.
I wanted to make the table set up look amazing and festive, so I added a fringed garland backdrop and a vine covered 60.
(I shaped the 60 out of  wire coathangers and wrapped them in fake ivy from Spotlight.)

I put together a selection of sweet and savoury food and Simon made his famous pavlova.
We popped some champagne in a bucket with flower ice. An idea I had seen on Pinterest and was dying to try.  It all looked very pretty and perfect for mum's special day.

Friends and family arrived and we settled in for a lovely afternoon.
We had such a great day and felt we had well and truly celebrated mum turning 60.
Happy birthday mum, we love you xx

I was asked where I got a few items so I've put together a list  in case you're interested......
