Kinfolk Gathering 2014 - Kinfolk Sydney

I was lucky enough to be a part of the Kinfolk Dinner last night held at Avalon Sailing Club.

L'Esprit De La Mer was the theme and it was all about a long table lunch, celebrating being by the sea.
An afternoon of like minds, listening to waves lap and boats clink, a seaside feast and a little champagne appreciation.

This event was also being held all around the world on the same weekend, so it was wonderful to be a part of something happening globally.

The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the people and the setting were just amazing. Here are my photos of the day.

Sorry for the deluge of photos but everything was so beautiful. It was an overload of the senses!
It was also really lovely for Simon and I to share it together.
The perfect date night.

It took so many people to put together such an amazing event.

Co-ordinated by Natalie from Eat, Read, Love

Seafood Feast by Mario's Kitchen
Delicious Champagne by Champagne Bureau Australia

Just to name a few x

Have you been to any Kinfolk events?
What did you think?

Kinfolk Workshop - an amazing afternoon

I love Kinfolk Magazine and its aesthetic, so when I heard they were holding a workshop just down the road from me I knew I had to go.

The whole event was so gorgeous it was like stepping into a page of a magazine. My photos don't do it justice.

I went with my sister in law Emma and on arrival we greeted our hosts and chatted to other guests.
The were about 30 of us all up.
The surroundings were beautiful and we were seated under a rustic tent on handmade log stools at little tables.

We made Herbal Firestarters. Brown paper filled with rosemary, thyme, cinnamon, straw, twigs etc and tied together with string.
They smelt divine!

We then gathered round the campfire to cook corn on the cob with lashings of butter. All the food was organic and made by Jane Grover (author of Naked Food). Everything was delicious!

After eating our corn we milled around the beautiful grounds. The house where the event was held belongs to Silvia of The Lost and Found Department. The whole place looks like a movie set. Divine!

Next course was a wonderful Pumpkin and Ginger soup with a dollop of yoghurt and a slice of damper.

Followed by a Pork and Fennel sausage we grilled on the fire. This was served with a homemade tomato relish. It was so lovely to sit by the fire, listening to the live music playing (3 girls with the most exquisite voices) and eating our sausages on a stick.

We met some lovely people that we knew from Instagram and it was such a nice relaxing way to spend a Saturday afternoon. It was such a chilled vibe.

Before heading home we had dessert. Smores which was a homemade square of raspberry marshmallow sandwiched between 2 digestive biscuits that were topped with a chocolate ganache. Heaven!

You roast the marshmallow first, pop it on a ganache covered biscuit and then sandwich with another biscuit.
So sticky,so delicious!

We drove home smelling of campfire smoke so happy that we got to experience this.It was absolutely magical.
