It was Finn's turn to have his room featured on Apartment Therapy.
You can see there is a definite surf, skate vibe!

I've been talking a lot lately about creating kids' spaces that make both the grown ups and the kids happy, and Finn's room may be the perfect example of just such space. Mom Simone worked together with her twelve-year-old son to create a space that is reflective of his personality and interests. I love the genius idea of creating a clipboard wall to display your kids' favorite artwork, whether it be their own creations, favorite magazine clippings, or posters. What a great way to let the room grow with your child! Read on to see more of Finn's surf and skate space...
How would you describe the look and feel of this room?A definite surf and skate vibe. It's reflective of Finn's stage in life at the moment and his interests.
What is your favorite piece or element?I love the clipboards that display his pages from surf magazines. It is a great way to display pictures without putting posters on the wall. I also love the fun vibe and color that the framed Hell Yeah and banana tea towels add to the room. The peace sign light is also a stand out piece.
What was the biggest challenge decorating this room?Compromising between my taste and Finn's vision for his room. He had quite strong views on how he wanted his room to look. Luckily we're both happy with how it turned out.
What do your friends say about the room? They love the clipboards as a display, the bookcase for lots of storage and the bed linen and rug for the pop of color and pattern.
Perhaps more importantly, what does your child think about the room?
Finn loves his room and keeps it tidy and in order. It's his own space in the house away from younger brothers, to hang out with his friends, play xbox, read and draw. The decor reflects his love of the ocean and surfing. We also have a half pipe in the backyard so having his skateboards at hand and organized is a plus for a quick skate after school.

Do you have any advice for parents creating a room for their child?
At Finn's age and older, it's really important to compromise and work together to create a space you are both happy with. I feel that a child takes more pride and keeps their room tidy if they feel they had a say in how it came together.

If money were no object, what's your dream source? As before there is nothing material that I am dreaming of for Finn's room. More space for all of the boys rooms would be fantastic. More money to knock down walls and extend! ;)
Fabulous room! Perfect for a young man!
