My week with Nespresso - coffee, coffee, coffee!

We had a bit of a life changing moment this week.
(ok,maybe that's a slight exaggeration!)
We got a new Nespresso machine.

I don't know why we didn't already have one.
Maybe we didn't realise how much coffee we drank or how much use we would get out of the Nespresso. We had only heard great things about it from friends + family and we have to agree.
 We're in love!

Here is my week with Nespresso in photos.

I am addicted to Ice Coffees
No matter how cold it gets in Winter, I still want one!
I usually have one either at around 11am to give me a boost before I get stuck into answering my emails, doing the housework or chase Noah around. Or I might have one at 3.30pm to get me through the afternoon sport routine, dinner & bath schedule.

Just a shot of coffee, milk and ice cubes. I have coffee ice cubes solidifying in the freezer for my next coffee.
I love the extra flavour as they melt.
A scoop of vanilla ice cream may or may not be added some days!

Simon can't start his day without a long black. He loves the quality and the strength of the Nespresso and says it is just as good as his favourite coffee shop.

Instead of sugar, he adds a shot of caramel syrup.
He has such a sweet tooth!

We had friends around for a BBQ dinner midweek and wanted to offer a simple dessert. We decided to make Affogatos(a scoop of vanilla ice-cream with a shot of coffee poured over it)

They were too easy! The kids just had the ice cream with sprinkles and chocolate topping.

I'd like to make a Mocha version of this and swap the Vanilla ice cream for Chocolate ice cream.
Yum.

Sometimes a Friday night at home calls for an Espresso Martini and nibbles. It's nice to chat about the past week, and have a drink in the comfort of your own home. Especially in Winter when it can be hard to get motivated to go out.
These cocktails hit the spot!

The recipe we used was
2oz of Baileys
0.5oz of Vodka
1 shot of cold espresso

* Add the Baileys, Vodka + Espresso.
* Shake well with ice and strain into a Martini glass.
* Garnish with coffee beans.

I loved that the Nespresso was so compact and fit in really well on my kitchen bench.
And of course I had to change my lightbox to suit ;)

We loved the Fortissio Lungo pods as the coffee was so smooth and full of flavour but I'm looking forward to trying different blends.

Which one is your favourite?

Do you have a Nespresso machine? Was it a life changer? ;)

Disclosure - I was given the Nespresso machine to trial. I wasn't paid to write a review. All opinions are my own. I just loved it so much I wanted to share it with you x

  4. Oh I'm so glad Simon liked it. I'm a long black girl and I love my nespresso coffees (using Roma) but I'm not that much of a coffee snob, so I wonder whether other people like them as much as me. But I can't believe I've only been having ordinary coffees so far. Ice coffees! Affogatos! So many new variations to try. Thank you!

  5. Love our Nespresso so much that we took it and a generator to the park along with 30 guests for Archer's 5th bday. I bought disposable cups from the $2 shop, 4 different strength packets of pods and let me just say, we made about 60 coffees that day. We hid the generator in a bush and just had the Nespresso set up on the park bench. It was a hit.
