Flowers + Books = Heaven!!
I buy flowers all the time for myself, usually at the supermarket when I'm doing the grocery shop.
I find they last really well.
My mum used to always have fresh flowers in the house when I was growing up.
She was the florist's best customer :)
It's amazing to think of what we get used to in childhood and bring to our own homes as adults.
(my house)
Do you have flowers at your house?
What is your favourite bloom?
I do love this, simone, and I must agree! although I am so slack at buying myself flowers for the house.. I think I was better at it before we had the kids! x
ReplyDeleteYes, it seems like just one more thing to buy when you've got kids but they do brighten up the house! xx
DeleteWhat a beautiful post Simone and a lovely tradition carried on in your home. I also LOVE flowers, but sadly, never buy any for my house :( I think it's high time I start a little flower bed in our yard. Gorgeous photos xo
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie, I wish I could grow my own flowers but we just don't have the space for it. I can imagine myself picking bouquets for the house from my garden :)
DeleteI love those tulips! My sister owns a gorgeous florist but unfortunatley for me she's in Melbourne. My sis-in-law makes regular trips to the flower markets and fills her house with vases full of flowers! I'd have to say that ranunculu's are my absolute favourite... Anything bright and big!

Ooh a florist in the family! Does she have a house full of flowers? I always say I should go to the flower markets but can't bring myself to get up that early!! xx
DeleteI too love flowers around our place - just a simple bunch to add a touch of colour. At the moment it's a solitary agapanthus bloom in a vase on our bench :)
ReplyDeleteI agree Amanda, just a simple bunch can change the whole feel of the home. So fresh and welcoming xx
DeleteI love having flowers in the house and treat myself about once a month from the florists near me, they have really cheap bunches. My Mum use to bring cut flowers in from the garden and put a little vase in my bedroom, so sweet. If only I didnt have a black thumb and kill everything I plant in the garden I would be able to do the same thing :) Guess Ill have to stick with the florist for now! I like most flowers but gerbras are my favourite in summer for their bright colours x
ReplyDeleteOh that is a sweet tradition Michelle, I'm with you on killing flowers. I tried to grow hydrangeas but I don't think the conditions were right. I'm sure it wasn't just me!! ;) xx
DeleteBeautiful pics Simone. Yes always have flowers in the house. Love them in the kids rooms too. It slots into my Sat morn run for a coffee, the bread & milk. I'm driven by colour as to what I pick up. In summer I'm always picking the lavender & hydrangeas from our yard x
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah, what a beautiful way to start the weekend. Oh you are so lucky to have your own hydrangeas. They are definitely my fave at the moment xx
DeleteYep, always have flowers or at least some greenery. I like most flowers but I can never go past lilies or roses.
ReplyDeleteCas x
Cas, I agree. Love a bunch of roses. Pink ones are my favourite xx
DeleteLove having fresh flowers. I hope to have some at least once a month. I have many favourites.
ReplyDeleteThey are just the best aren't they Vicki. My tastes change too, some times I'm drawn to all one colour and others I like to mix it up a bit xx
DeleteI have to start buying myself flowers. Actually I need to buy vases.
ReplyDeleteI love every flower. The colors get me. I have a garden filled with gorgeous flowers and I never pick them because I stare at them outside and when I walk through our gate. Xx
You can just use a glass or a jar B. Or even one of your teapots ;) So lucky to have a garden of flowers, you take such beautiful pics of them xx
ReplyDeleteI am totally a flower girl. It is my weekly Friday ritual to buy myself flowers. I love pictures of your home it always looks gorgeous xx
ReplyDeleteI can't agree more Simone. Don't they just make you smile when you pass by them. Green hydrangeas are my favorite although it's too hot here for them and mine has cooked in the sun. I'm very lucky to have a few places near by that sell flowers. I've just come back from the flower market down the road this morning, took the kids and they thought it was fabulous seeing tractors and people picking them and then getting to pick up some big gladi's for home. So now they are older and I don't have to try holding/wrestling them and the flowers, I will make an effort to go more often. And I love giving flowers to people just because cause they do make you feel special don't they.
