I've been a bit preoccupied with the rain this week.
All of my extended family live in the Wagga and Griffith /Yenda region and they are experiencing not only rain but floods.
My mum lives in Yenda and has been up here in Sydney with me over the last few days, she is heading home today and has no idea how her house is. Fingers crossed the water hasn't made it inside. The whole town has been evacuated and I have many relatives waiting to be allowed back into town and inspect the damage. I am hoping the water starts receding now!
It is just mind blowing to see a town affected by floods that is usually suffering the effects of drought. From one extreme to the other. Here's hoping the rain stops soon and the clean up can begin.

Hope your Mum's house is ok! My extended family are in and around Wagga too. My 87 year old grandmother was evacuated but thankfully home safe and sound now with no damage. Crossing my fingers for your family too.
ReplyDeleteIt's terrible isn't it? We have been following the news closely as we have work colleagues and friends in the area. xx
ReplyDeleteHow terrible! I hope you're Mum's place has survived the floodwaters xx
ReplyDeleteScary isn't it! Watching it on TV must have been hard for you all. Safe trip for your mum and hopefully there will be smiles at the other end. Keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteIts so so terrible just like the QLD floods all over again. I never thought the devastation would happen again, we should be more organise or have better methods of stopping the waters or something this time around. Praying for some sunshine on you :)
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to know that it is going to happen, waiting for it to come.
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky this year as one river is flooding further up stream and the other stayed just under the bridges! I have been on call for Cowra but fortunately (to date) have not needed to go. Best wishes for your Mum and hope her home was safe.
Oh it has been horrible hasn't it!? I couldn't get over the amount of water falling today in Sydney, it was amazing. I do hope your Mum and family are all ok and haven't been affected too badly by the flooding.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was from Yenda. I haven't been there for years and years, but it holds a special spot in my heart also xo
