Turning 40.....

I celebrated a milestone birthday last weekend, I turned 40!
I knew I didn't want a big party but rather a few different celebrations to mark the occasion.
I've got a few lunches + dinners booked in with friends and a couple of weekends away in the next month to keep the party going!  But on the night of my actual birthday I wanted to have a special dinner with my nearest and dearest. We had the dinner at home so all of the kids could be comfortable and we could relax more so than if we were out at a restaurant with them.

The day before my birthday my mum came over to help me set the table and we had an enjoyable time faffing about and making things pretty. The table consisted of all of my favourite things. Flowers, crystals and candles!

On the night we mixed up some delicious Gin + Elderflower cocktails and a platter to start and then Simon made dinner for us all. Dessert was a lemon meringue pie and a chocolate board.
A definite hit!

Here are some photos of the night.......

I had an amazing night and felt blessed to be surrounded by so much love!
I'm looking forward to everything the future holds. Exciting stuff!

Have you celebrated a milestone birthday lately?

For my birthday dinner table I shopped my cupboards and when I shared some photos on Instagram I received lots of questions on where I sourced my table settings.

Simon turns 40!

Simon celebrated a milestone birthday on the weekend.
Cheers to 40 years!
I can't believe that we have spent more than half of our lives together. It's amazing to be able to share all of these memorable moments and to look around and see all that we have created as a team.

We celebrated the day with breakfast and presents in bed, Simon popped into work for a couple of hours and then we had his family over to share in the festivities at afternoon tea.

We've got a big party planned for family and friends next weekend so this was just a little tease ;)

Here are some photos of the day......

I made up a couple of platters, one savoury and one sweet and it was great to sit around catching up with everyone, washing down the nibblies with beer + champagne.  I also added a couple of festive touches with a birthday message on the lightbox and a gold foil balloon banner that I picked up from Kmart (it comes with all the letters for birthday but I couldn't fit it on the mirror!)

We had given Simon a surf trip to Bali for his birthday present and he flew back home on Thursday looking tanned and rested from his little break. ( lucky thing! )

We're looking forward to continuing the celebrations next weekend!

Noah turns 4 - a birthday lunch with family

Noah is turning 4 next week so I got the family together over the weekend to celebrate. I can't believe our baby is almost 4! He loved seeing all of his grandparents, aunty, uncle and cousins and knew the day was all about him.

As there were 15 of us for lunch I wanted to create a long table for us to all sit together. I popped 2 trestle tables together, hired 15 plastic chairs and then set the table with things we had at home.
To create the runner I got a roll of craft paper from the supermarket and wrote birthday messages on it in black texta. Too easy but cute and something different. I then placed various pot plants from around the house down the centre of the table and scattered Noah's matchbox cars between them.
A number 4 balloon and other balloons in his favourite colours were the finishing festive touch.

Even though the adults outnumbered the kids I wanted to add some fun and personalised touches to the birthday lunch. I made up these straws with Noah's sweet face on them, some tiny teddy cars, organised a couple of party games and filled a piƱata with treats for the kids to go wild on!

We started off with a platter and drinks outside while we watched Noah unwrap his gifts.
Then we sat down to a bbq lunch with a couple of salads and a potato bake. Yum!

It was then time for Noah to blow out his candles and cut the cake. I made him his favourite chocolate mud cake and popped some Kinder Surprises and other choccies on top.
Simon also made his famous pavlova, it was a hit. Not a crumb left!

It was so lovely to get everyone together to celebrate our beautiful boys birthday.
We love you Noah to infinity and beyond!
