Room Tour - A fresh, modern nursery

Today's room tour is a fresh, white modern nursery I came across via Mini Style blog.

I love the overall white theme with the contrast of black. If colour is more your thing you could introduce an accent colour and personalise it a little more for either a girl or boy.

I came across Tarina's account on Instagram @oh.eight.oh.nine and loved the gorgeous look she created for her baby boy Chet's nursery. Follow her feed for more design inspo.

Take a look......

Noah - 5 months

Our gorgeous boy is 5 months old today.

This last month has been a lot of fun as Noah has found his voice. He is screeching and laughing and holding wonderful conversations ;) It is heartmelting stuff. I find myself talking to Noah in "that" squeaky singsong voice and I laugh when I hear Jasper and Finn doing the same. I have  captured a bit on video which is cute to have.

We started solids last month and we have introduced a few more tastes but some days he will eat more than others. Some days he is not fussed and just happy with his milk. I am still breastfeeding Noah which I love although he has been testing out his gums and biting action. Ouch! At the moment he is refusing a bottle so it is all me, all the time! All my boys have done this, history repeating itself.

Noah is rolling from his tummy to his back sometimes. He does still like his playmat although he prefers to be sitting up in his bouncer so he can see everything. He doesn't really like the Bumbo.I don't know if his chubby legs are getting squished or it is just the position? (I had heard the Bumbos were being recalled for safety reasons, I always am in sight and reach of Noah at  all times as I can see how a baby could come out of them). I will keep it and see if he likes it more in the coming months.  He is also trying to sit up and reach for things. So cool to watch these skills develop, it certainly is just as special and exciting third time around. Noah is also starting to bear weight on his legs. You have got to love a baby standing on your lap!

I've noticed that he is growing out of some 000's and some brands 00's. I haven't bought that many clothes for him as he is growing so fast so I buy a few things and wear them to death and then buy new things in a bigger size. I can't wait for the warmer weather when I don't have to rug him up as much. I haven't weighed or measured him for a while as you can get obsessed by the charts but he is looking deliciously healthy to me :)

He has been a trouper throughout our renovations. He slept perfectly in the Portacot when we had to move out and has slept through various tradesmens nail guns and saws. Although his night time sleep is a little erratic. Some nights he'll wake once, some twice but he always goes back to sleep quite easily. Hopefully once life and home is quiet and finished we will be able to work on this "sleeping through" business.

Noah doesn't have any teeth but I can see about 4 white bumps under his gums and he had a few days where he was a bit whingey with a slight temp. We are having lots of dribble and toys getting chomped on. Nothing majorly distressing yet. Has anyone used the Amber teething necklaces? Did you find they worked?

All in all we are just cruising along. I feel like life is just flying by though! I keep waiting for things to slow down but who knows when that will be?! I have Noah's christening planned for a couple of months time, so once the house is finished that will be my next project.

It is so lovely to have this blog where I can record all of my life's little milestones. That is why even when life is hectic and I don't post as often I don't think I could give up blogging.
How about you? How have you all been?

Finn is 10!

My goodness, I can't believe my first born is 10 years old today.

When Finn was born and placed in my arms I remember thinking, "This is what I have been waiting for".

Finn, Daddy and I are so proud of the boy you are. You are gorgeous, kind and loving. You are a fabulous big brother to Jasper and Noah and you are so loved by us all.

Happy Birthday my beautiful boy!
We are so blessed that you chose us xx

PS - It was so funny when I was trying to find a baby pic of Finn, there is nothing digital! I had to take a photo of a photo!

Noah - 4 months

My baby is 4 months now. To be honest it feels like we have had him forever but other times I can't believe I have another baby!

Jasper likes to tell me, "Mum, I love Noah and we're going to keep him forever!" :)

Finn and Jasper are so much more "into" him now that he is looking at them and smiling and they can make him laugh. We also have started Noah on solids - rice cereal and apple at the moment and everyone wants a go of feeding him. It's enough to make your heart melt!

Noah is still the most easiest and chilled baby. I had to take him to the salon the other day for 3 1/2 hours (staying blonde is a long process!)and he slept happily in his pram for a while and other times was happy to look around and get spoilt by the other women there :)

This month we decided to start him on solids as he seemed ready. He took to it with gusto! We are sticking to rice cereal and apple puree at the moment and I will move onto pears, carrots, zucchini and potatoes in the coming weeks.

Noah is very interested in looking around at the moment so feeding (milk) is taking longer as he is so distracted. I have to do it away from the boys and the tv!

There is lots of dribbling and chewing of fingers and toys. I must always remember to take a bib with me now. Noah is loving sitting up in the bumbo for short amounts of time, I guess it is fun to see life from a different angle. We are seeing more reaching and grabbing, hair is fun to be pulled!

His face is changing week by week and I can now see more of a similarity with him and Finn as a baby. He is just getting more gorgeous and divine!

Sick Leave.

Noah and I have been struck down with the flu.
It's oh so heartbreaking to hear his chesty cough :(
But doesn't he look cute in his fleecy pj's?
Hopefully we will be feeling a bit better tomorrow.

Quiet.

Sometimes life forces you to be quiet.
It happened to me this week. I woke up on Saturday not feeling quite right. A little tired, a little achey but nothing too dramatic. Hey I'm just tired. Having a baby will do that to you.

On Sunday morning we had to be at a breakfast at my brother in laws house to celebrate his birthday. Usually I love family times like these but I struggled to get up. Again I felt achey, tired , lethargic , was developing a cough and I also had a rash all over my arms and legs. As you do I just kept going and got everyone organised. We also had another batch of visitors over that day to meet Noah but by Sunday afternoon I felt so sick I had to go to the doctors (which I hate doing!)

Turns out I had the flu and the rash was viral and my body's way of saying I was rundown and had to take things easier.  Just rest, the doctor said. Hmmm, how will I do that with 3 children I thought? Although I came home and hopped into bed and Simon took care of everything else. He brought Noah to me every few hours for a feed. I dozed, I ached and I shivered. This went on for a couple of days until I woke up with mastitis! I know the symptoms for the flu and mastitis are similar but I had the cough and the rash so I think I was unlucky enough to have them both at the same time!

After breastfeeding both the older boys for a year each without ever having a problem before I felt a little bit panicky. I pumped and massaged my breast religiously for a few days and I think I have it under control. I didn't really want to resort to antibiotics if I didn't have to. It hasn't disappeared completely but the aches and fevers have disappeared and suddenly things don't seem so bad.

I think I was on such a high from Noah's birth that I just hit the ground running and tried to slip back into regular life without giving much of a thought of what my body had just been through. I guess I also didn't want Finn and Jasper to feel much disruption in their daily lives either. I was also keeping my little business on facebook ticking over as well. Too much I guess! Adrenalin was obviously getting me through BUT it obviously ran out! Luckily Noah has been so good and is sleeping and feeding well so that has made things easier. Now it is up to me to nurture my body back to strength and good health. I will be taking it slowly for however long I need to. Lesson learnt!

Have you had mastitis? What did you do? Love to hear your tips :)

1 week on :)

This time last week we welcomed our gorgeous Noah to the world.

We have had a lovely time this week doing nothing much at all :)
Simon has been home and has been fantastic in doing all the housework and getting the boys ready for school so I have had time to rest and feed Noah and not had to worry about doing much else.
It feels like Noah has been with us forever.

Hello baby! Welcome home :)

1 week old :)

Couldn't resist a mini photo shoot. Fresh out of the bath and a white Bonds wondersuit.Does it get any better?!

Sock monkey gifted to Noah from the gorgeous Claire at Scissors Paper Rock

2 very tired but oh so happy parents!

Thank you so much for all your gorgeous best wishes and congratulations. It meant so much to me to be able to share my news with you all. Loving all the love!

He's here!

So our bundle of love arrived on Friday.
I knew I was having a big boy, I just didn't know he would be THAT big! He surprised us all :)

I'll share my story on Noah's birth in a few days, I'm just soaking up that newborn stage at the moment.
Loving him to bits!

He has 2 adoring older brothers who can't get enough of him. So gorgeous to see them all together.

Here are a few pics of the last few days.

I've also updated my post on Noah's nursery, so you can see the finished room.

The Nursery.

So the nursery is complete. Well, we just need the baby as the finishing touch! And maybe a rug. I just couldn't find one I loved.

The Aeroplane Name sticker was from Graphic Spaces on Etsy.
So many colours to choose from!

The cot was given to us by my sister in law, linen from Target and flat Britt bear from friends :) Hot air balloon from Ministyle.

Expedit shelving from Ikea. Branas baskets from Ikea.
Books and toys are old ones from Finn and Jasper. Photo frames from Typo, just waiting to be filled with new snaps :)

Dresser doubling as a change table was custom made from a Whitewood warehouse. All wipes, nappies etc in top drawer.
Wooden letters from Typo painted red. Twinkle Star board from Alfresco Emporium. My own lamp-base (originally from Freedom) with a star shade from My Little Lighthouse.

White shelves are Ikea spice racks with the rails taken off.  Smile print from seventytree on Etsy. Frame from Big W (Vienna range) , monkey was a gift, red wooden apple from Typo. Pram Kikki K card in an Ikea frame. Toadstool from Typo.

There you have it, I've kept it all very simple and neutral and will keep looking for a rug to finish the room off.

Ok baby, ready when you are!

Packing my bag.

So I have finally gotten around to packing my bag for the hospital. I don't know why but I kept putting it off.
Denial perhaps?!

I thought I would share a few of the things I popped in there :)

My new slippers from Peter Alexander. I just needed something with a bit of sparkle!

Maternity nightie and matching robe from Peter Alexander.

Save our Sleep by Tizzie Hall. Thought I better refresh myself on this baby biz. I lived by this book with Jasper and it worked a treat! He was sleeping through by 8 weeks.
Fingers crossed it works again :)

Also can't forget a cute little outfit to bring the baby home in.
I can't seem to get away from stripes at the moment. I am drawn to them. Including for myself, which is probably not the wisest choice for a heavily pregnant woman!

Of course I have also packed the obligatory black undies, bonds maternity singlets, leggings etc. I have also packed the makeup and hair straightner ;)

So I am 37 1/2 weeks now but the way this baby is growing I might be getting induced earlier. I have a dr's appointment tomorrow so I will see how we go.
I know I've pushed out 2 x 9lb babies before but this one feels and looks even bigger!

I know I keep meaning to post pictures of the nursery but someone who shall remain nameless (Simon!) keeps delaying putting up the finishing touches eg a huge wall sticker. As he is worried about the paint not being dry enough or something! I have also just bought this print from etsy but in red :)

Here is a peek of the room.

Also a big thanks to all your best wishes regarding my mums house and the flood. Turns out she was one of the luckier ones and had no water damage. My other family members still haven't been allowed back to their houses yet.

So that is where I am up to at the moment, I will keep you posted :)

The Organised/Shopping Phase.

So, this far into my pregnancy I am currently in the organising/shopping phase. I think that comes right before nesting :)

First jobs were the baby's room and sorting out Finn and Jasper's rooms. Even though I am a ruthless culler of junk/toys, their rooms are constantly filling up. How does this happen?!

The baby's Expedit, plenty of room left to fill!

Jasper's Expedit below.

To get everyone organised it means storage, storage, storage!
This meant a trip to Ikea and the Expedit bookcases were on my list. They are not original or exciting but for us they work perfectly to showcase toys and books in the neatest way possible.
Baskets were a must too.

Also I was over the green I had in the living areas. So I shopped my own cupboards and bought out my floral cushions with some blue to mix up the vibe a bit. Flowers courtesy of Valentines Day :)

Did you notice my white lounges in the main living area?

I ended up having to return our brown lounges after 5 years as the leather was starting to peel away! Turns out they were a faulty product and the store I bought them from gave me new lounges (after much chasing and harrassing I might add!)I'm really happy with them. The white makes the space so much lighter.

I also couldn't resist buying up some teensy baby clothes.
There seems to be a theme happening :)

So as most of the things I have been buying lately has been for the baby I will show you the nursery next week :)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend

Ideas for my baby boys nursery.

Here is a mood board I created for the baby's room so far.

Really going for a neutral theme with the red accents.
I definately NEED that aeroplane sticker with the baby's name!

Also loving the idea of vintage suitcases as a place to store toys and books.

I also NEED this bunny lamp from Lark.

Loving these spotty walls as well :)

So, just a few ideas that I need to have "written down".
You can find all the links on my pinterest board.

Also I am struggling to think of another boys name that I love. Would love to hear some of your suggestions :)
