Easter Recipe - Salted Caramel Eggspresso Martini

I was scrolling through Instagram the other day when this recipe for an Easter cocktail from The Grounds of Alexandria came up on my feed.

How delicious would it be to serve this up to friends and family over the Easter weekend?

Lucy the manager from the Potting Shed Bar at The Grounds was lovely enough to share her
recipe. I've popped it below in case you want to give it a try!

INGREDIENTS:
200g Cooking chocolate
30ml Salted Caramel Vodka
15ml Flor De Cana Spresso (coffee Rum)
15ml Tuca
30ml Cold Drip Coffee
30ml Thickened Cream
Medium sized Easter eggs to garnish
Daisies to garnish

METHOD:
Melt chocolate using the double boiler method, coat the glass and tip it upside down to remove any excess, before placing it in the fridge to set overnight. Patience here is key, and the tip is to use quality cooking chocolate – your regular cadbury block unfortunately won’t cut it here (but it’s handy to snack on while you work).
Add all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice.
Strain into your pre-set glass.

TO GARNISH AND SERVE:
Add a cracked easter egg and place on the side (we dare you to try not to eat the leftover).
Top with coloured daisies and serve.

What do you think?
I definitely think I'm going to give this one a try!

Easter decorating + making Easter Bark

With Easter coming up this weekend I thought I share with you a few of the simple Easter touches I've added to the house. It's all about the bunnies and easter eggs. Wooden and chocolate!

The Easter eggs have had to be replenished a couple of times.
Obviously they've been too tempting for some! ;)

We also made some Easter Bark. The pastel colours look so pretty for Easter.
Chocolate on top of chocolate!
I saw the idea in one of Cole's magazines at the supermarket the other day and thought I would give it a go. It's looks so cute and is a perfect dessert for an Easter feast.

Our Easter 2016

I hope you've all had a wonderful Easter weekend!
We've had 4 days filled with family, relaxing and lots and lots of food and chocolate.

Good Friday was spent pottering around the house, driving teenagers out to the Easter Show and having fish and chips for dinner. I even pulled out my bunny slippers that night to get into the Easter vibe, although this was the first Easter we've had in a while that was still quite warm and humid.

On Saturday morning we tried to squeeze in some fruits for breakfast with our Acai bowls to ensure we were eating something other than hot cross buns and chocolate ;)
Simon and I went to the movies in the afternoon to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.
It was fun with a few laughs but definitely not as good as the first one.

On Sunday we found that the Easter Bunny had paid us a visit and the boys enjoyed finding all of the eggs that had been left for them. It was very sweet to see them walking hand in hand and sharing out the eggs. Finn stayed in bed but Noah and Jasper made up a bag of eggs for him so he didn't miss out.

We then met up with family for breakfast at my brother + sister in laws house around the corner from us. They put on a delicious spread of avocado, feta + proscuitto toasts and an amazing stack of crepes with a choc orange sauce. The cousins roamed around the garden together and burnt off some sugar on the trampoline. We recreated a photo of them all together that was taken at Easter 3 years ago.
Amazing how they grow so fast!

We then met up with more family later on at the Skiff Club and pleasantly whiled away a few hours chatting and catching up on all the news. Even more Easter Eggs were given to the kids. The amount of chocolate in the house is out of control! Time to hide some in the cupboards for a few weeks ;)

How good is that 4th day of the long weekend?!
It really felt relaxing to have that extra day to chill out and do nothing.
We all had a sleep in and a slow start to the day. Later on I made some bunny shaped pizzas to keep the Easter Celebrations going.

We've all had a really great Easter break. How was your weekend?
Did you over do the chocolate too?!

Our Easter weekend - 2015

I think this was the most chilled out Easter we've ever had.

A combination of the rain and no family commitments meant that we were free to have a low key weekend. Also the fact that we have just moved back home meant that we were happy to do as little as possible. I think we were all just happy to potter around at home and be in our own space amongst our own things.

The weather was cooler and perfect for slippers and our warm pyjamas.
The Easter Bunny delivered some yummy eggs, books, chalk and wind up chicks.
Chocolate was consumed before breakfast, as is our Easter tradition. We then had bunny pancakes. An idea I'd seen on Pinterest and wanted to try. They were too cute!

It was a very relaxed few days with sleep ins, a few jobs completed around the house and cupcakes made. The egg chalk was a hit too and the side of our house is currently a riot of colour!

I think we've all had our chocolate fill for a while!

I'm looking forward to more relaxed days ahead as the boys are on school holidays and we love a break from routine. I can't believe this time last year we were in Hawaii. It seems so long ago!

How was your Easter?
I hope it was a relaxing one for you. What did you get up to?
