Our Day at the Easter Show - 2015

On Thursday we picked the kids up early from school and took them out to the Easter Show. It was a last  minute decision but we thought it would be less crowded than the school holidays and the weather was good so we decided to go for it. We got out there at about 2pm and hit the rides.
There were no lines and no waiting. It was perfect!

It was Noah's first time at the Show and he took to it with gusto and kept up with the big boys.
After the rides, we all needed a Snow Cone before moving on to the Nursery Farm.

We also took in the view of the Show from the ferris wheel.

I also introduced the boys to a Dagwood Dog ( or Corn Dog as they are now known)
I can't say they were fans!

We did a few more rides, watched the Wood Chopping, Rodeo, stunt motorbikes + cars and the finale of the fireworks. Noah was then ready to go home. We'd been there about 8 hours but still didn't fit everything in. So much to see and do!

We didn't really go in with a plan, we just went with the flow. We did the rides at the start as the kids were excited to do them immediately and they are there as soon as you walk in.

We moved on to the Nursery, got a bite to eat, did a loop on the ferris wheel and then moved onto the big stadium to watch a few events. There were about 4 events in a row we were interested in seeing so this was a good opportunity to have a rest, have dinner, chill out and plan a few more things.

We bought some food at the Show but I also took a few of our own snacks and water bottles. It's always good to  have snacks for on the go. I did take the pram for Noah, although he mainly wanted to walk. The pram came in handy for carrying the bags!

I also used the Sydney Royal Easter Show app to see what was on at certain times and the boys loved walking around with the map they give you at the gate.

Comfy shoes, hats and sunscreen are also a must plus an umbrella or raincoat for this rainy Easter weather we've been having. Also jumpers to pop on once the sun goes down and it gets a little chilly.

We drove in and found the traffic fine and the parking easy. I always love having our own car at the end of the day as everyone can relax and sleep on the way home.

Have you been to the Show this year?
Any tips or must sees?

A sneak peek at the Showbags for the Sydney Royal Easter Show 2015.

Jasper and I were lucky enough to be invited to the Showground (at Olympic Park) the other day to take a sneak peek at the Showbags for the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year.

We were greeted by a man making the most fantastic balloon animals.

The Showbag pavilion is a highlight and a reminder of a great day out at the Easter Show. I remember pondering over which one I would choose when I was younger. So many to choose from!

This year there are 349 Showbags to pick from and the bags range in price from $1 up to $30.
There really is something for everyone. It was great to see the old Bertie Beetle Showbag still there. Such value at $2!

Here are a few that caught our eye -
Cadbury

Thomas the Tank Engine

Frozen

My dad would love this Phantom one!

 Bertie Beetle

Sydney Swans

Australian Netball - Diamonds

Also a few friends popped in to say hello!
I think they might have influenced Jasper's choice in Showbags later on ;)

The kids were allowed to choose 3 Showbags to take home.
Jasper chose a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle one for himself, he chose a Warheads one for Finn and a Peppa Pig one for Noah.

The bags were fantastic and had quality toys, lollies, plates, cups etc inside them. I think the prices reflect value for money and I know the kids were happy with them!

The Sydney Royal Easter Show opens from the 26th March - 8th April.

Noah missed out on our last trip to the Easter Show as he was just a baby but we will definitely take him this year. I'm sure he will love it!

Are you Show regulars? Do you go every year?
What is your favourite type of Showbag?

I love that you can even plot your Showbag attack with this map found here

Easter Show 2013

Simon and I decided to surprise Finn and Jasper with a trip to the Easter Show yesterday.
(Noah stayed at home with Nanna)

We sent the boys to school as usual and picked them up at lunch time and drove out to the Show.

(this used to be my favourite ride as a kid)

(wouldn't be the show without a dagwood dog)

I don't think we could have picked a better day or time to go.
It was so uncrowded and no lines for anything. It was so good! We got there at about 2.30pm and left at 9.30pm after the fireworks and some last rides to use up our last tickets.
A fun packed afternoon and night. Our feet were a little tired at the end! Jasper did so well to keep up with his little legs. I think the adrenalin, excitement and sugar kept him going :)

We only go to the Easter Show every few years so it makes it a bit more special and exciting.
It was Jasper's first time and he loved it!

So are you going to the Easter Show this year?
What is your favourite part?
