ANZAC Day + a birthday

We're remembering the ANZACS this weekend and thankful for their sacrifice.

A visit to the dawn service, a vase of gum leaves and some ANZAC biscuits were our little symbols of rememberance. There are always a few teary eyes while watching the march, although it's lovely to take the time to stop and reflect on all that happened and give thanks to those who fought to give us the freedom we enjoy today.

Yesterday we celebrated my father in law's birthday and he was chuffed to have all of his 9 grandchildren around him to help blow out his candles.

We gathered at my brother + sister in law's house, it was so lovely to have the QLD part of the family here this weekend and spend time all together. Emma made a delicious Oreo cake and the kids burned off the sugar running around the backyard and jumping on the trampoline.

The holidays are almost finished and we are enjoying these last slow days before routine and all our commitments begin again.

How was your weekend? Did you make it to a dawn service?

  1. I've never been to a dawn service but I would really like to go, maybe next year.
