The weekend.... in pics.

I worked on a photo board for my dad's 60th Birthday party next Saturday.

The boys caught up with their cousins for a dip on Saturday morning. The water was gorgeous!

I reached 35wks, my bump keeps getting bigger and those comments of you must be due any day now are coming thick and fast!

I went to the Life Instyle & Kids Instyle Trade Show on Sunday.

It was lovely to look around and see so many beautiful products. I loved looking at our the stalls had merchandised their wares.

Stand outs were Lark, Down to the Woods, Christine Re, Ada & Darcy and Beneath the Sun.

I also am obsessed with hot air balloon decor lately so I couldn't resist taking a snap of this.

So another busy weekend has flown by and I have to go and get Finn organised for his first school camp. It is only down the road and for one night but still a milestone!

My day today :)

Today was one of those days I used to dream about when I thought about being a mum.It was Finn's school Swimming Carnival today. I love going to all the school carnivals and watching him participate. I was so proud of him today.

Finn went in every event, even the events he wasn't too sure about. eg The Open boys 100m freestyle and the Medley (he had never swum those distances before). All up he went in the Open 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke, Medley and he made it into the Junior boys relay race. Someone is going to sleep well tonight :)

Finn got a 1st, 2nd, 3rd a few times and a 4th place, I was just so happy he went in every race and gave it a go. I couldn't of been prouder of him and I know he was proud of himself too. All the kids were fantastic and cheered along all the competitors and the ones struggling in the water a bit. It brought a hormonal tear to my eye!

The school swept through the races pretty quickly and the whole carnival only went from 10am - 1pm. So Finn had an early mark and we had a little lunch. I am loving the Warm Chicken salad from a local cafe at the moment.

I just started following some new blogs tonight. Although the strange thing is that I thought I was already following them!

When you see the same faces and names on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, I just assumed I already had them on my blog feed. But I have been missing out!

So many blogs with gorgeous photos and new stories to devour.

I feel like a renewed enthusiasm for blogging is stirring within me. All very exciting!

The Organised/Shopping Phase.

So, this far into my pregnancy I am currently in the organising/shopping phase. I think that comes right before nesting :)

First jobs were the baby's room and sorting out Finn and Jasper's rooms. Even though I am a ruthless culler of junk/toys, their rooms are constantly filling up. How does this happen?!

The baby's Expedit, plenty of room left to fill!

To get everyone organised it means storage, storage, storage!

This meant a trip to Ikea and the Expedit bookcases were on my list. They are not original or exciting but for us they work perfectly to showcase toys and books in the neatest way possible.

Baskets were a must too.

Also I was over the green I had in the living areas. So I shopped my own cupboards and bought out my floral cushions with some blue to mix up the vibe a bit. Flowers courtesy of Valentines Day :)

Did you notice my white lounges in the main living area?

I ended up having to return our brown lounges after 5 years as the leather was starting to peel away! Turns out they were a faulty product and the store I bought them from gave me new lounges (after much chasing and harrassing I might add!)I'm really happy with them. The white makes the space so much lighter.

I also couldn't resist buying up some teensy baby clothes.
There seems to be a theme happening :)

So as most of the things I have been buying lately has been for the baby I will show you the nursery next week :)

Eyebrows.

I'm finally getting my eyebrows done today. Yippee!

I don't know why but it has been really hard to get an appointment lately and I have been walking around with unkempt eyebrows. Gasp!

Eyebrows are my thing and not having them done makes me feel messy and as they are darker than my blonde hair I feel that they stand out more.

What is your thing? Which grooming habit makes you feel fabulous?

Happy Valentines Day.

Happy Valentines Day. I woke up this morning to some beautiful cards from the boys, my favourite Valentines.

We're pretty low key around here with celebrating Valentines Day but I am kind of expecting some flowers today. (hint hint Simon!)

Pink roses are my favourite.

I will have cards and chocolates for the boys when I pick them up from school and more chocolate for Simon too. You can't go wrong with chocolate as a gift around here :)

I don't think we have ever went out for a Valentines Dinner but if we had I would love to start the night with pink drinks and wear a pink dress. Why not?

Our Sunday.

We took advantage of the gorgeous weather this morning and headed down to Manly (along with everyone else!) to take a look at the Australian Open of Surfing.

As we have a couple of keen surfers in the family, they were in heaven! The festival lasts all week so it will be fun to pop down and check out the surfing and skate boarding after school with Finn.

Finn's career dream at the moment (age 9) is to be a professional surfer. Love that confidence!

Peek into the future perhaps? ;)

Finn also met some up and coming young surfers.

After lunch we headed to aquatic centre so Finn could practice his laps in preparation for his school Swimming Carnival.

Jasper decided today was the day to jump off the diving board.

No fear, that one. He loved it!

We are off to visit Simon's dad in the hospital today (he had a back operation, ouch!) and we'll be taking him a little treat.

My all time favourite is a Vanilla Slice, Simon will choose a Caramel Slice, Finn's choice is a Meringue and Jasper always, always chooses a pink Cupcake.

I'm joining up today with Edenland's "Fresh Horses" meme. Every Saturday there will be something new to share. This week it is handwriting. This is mine!!

It kinda still looks like I am in year 9 in high school but I have stopped putting hearts over my i's! My writing is a mix of capitals and lowercase. I went through a phase where I didn't like my letters going beneath the line. I'm sure you can analyse something from that!

When I write my kid's notes for school I'm sure the teachers must think it is from another sibling! My writing doesn't look mature enough for a mother. Most of my friends that I went to school with have handwriting similar to mine. Is that strange?

Anyway if you haven't been to Eden's blog before head on over. Her blog is honest and raw and miles away from my "fluffy" little honey and fizz but it's nice to have that contrast sometimes, isn't it?

This is me and my bump at 31 weeks.

Yippee I'm on the home straight :)

The baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead so I'm having another BIG boy (both the boys were 9lbs 1 oz)

Things I am doing at this stage of pregnancy are -

* living in my black stretchy skirt from Sussan

* craving watermelon

*waddling

*my iron levels are quite low so I am munching on green vegies, having red meat twice a week and taking an iron supplement.

* i have to have a pedicure asap as I can no longer reach my toes myself comfortably!

*sleeping with about 6 pillows at night, trying to find that perfect combination :)

Back to reality.

So we are back to reality here today. Finn is back at school and the days will now have some routine to them. I'm kinda looking forward to this as I love the fresh start and enthusiasm of a new school year.

Finn was up and dressed and ready to go by 6.30am this morning. So keen! I give him a couple of days until I have to nag to turn the t.v off, brush your teeth etc etc.

I love the look of new school bags and lunch boxes. So clean! I am always so organised and enthusiastic with the lunches in the first couple of weeks then the downhill slide of boring sandwiches and a piece of fruit return.

Do you do this too? Start the year off on a high and slowly slide back to a more manageable and "average" standard?

While Jasper has been at kindy the last couple of days Finn and I have been enjoying time together. Just the two of us. He made my heart melt when he said today "I love these days when it's just the two of us"

We then went to Bunnings to buy some new plants for our pots near the front door as my hydrangeas died :(

We're very happy with our efforts!

We treated ourselves to lunch and a chocolate milkshake :)

We've had a great couple of days together and I'll miss Finn's company when he goes back to school on Monday.

Hormones or just a sooky la la?!

So I am blaming the pregnancy hormones but I have been acting like a real sook lately and bursting into tears at the slightest thing.

Some of the things that have made me cry in the last week have been -

* my iphone breaking and losing all 19 of my photos of my 365 day project (could have been worse!)

* the dog leaving a foot print on my white quilt after I had just had it drycleaned

* Simon buying nectarines instead of white peaches!

* Simon ordering the same mango smoothie as me at a restaurant for bfast. I felt he was copying me!

* the boys leaving their clothes on the laundry floor instead of in the basket.

* my hydrangeas died :(

* every time I pour myself a glass of water somebody asks me for a sip.

Now not all of these "moments" have been big floods of tears, sometimes I just do my "princess" tears.

You know when your eyes well up and a tear just slowly slides down your cheek?

The boys just stare at me then burst out laughing! Asking me "Are you seriously crying about a peach?"

I then like to flounce off to my room for a few minutes until I compose myself.

Fun times!

Fingers crossed it's the hormones, because then there is an end in sight!

I saw this random quiz somewhere the other day (I was click, click, clicking and can't remember where it was!)
I thought I would share some of my answers with you :)

2. What does your last text message say from someone?
It's going to be awful tomorrow! Should we make it another day? Don't want to crash your house on a rainy day.

3. Ever had a poem or song written about you?
Hmmm, a guy in high school said he wrote this song about me but it turned out to be some obscure band instead!
I also once had ACDC's "You Shook me all Night Long dedicated to me in front of 100's of people. How embarrassing!

4. Ever stuck a random object up your nose?
I think I was about 3 and I shoved a bean bag ball up my nose and had to go to the hospital to have it removed. This started a spate of "copy cats", my sister than put lego up her nose and my cousin put a pebble from her fish tank up her nose!

5. Do you prefer to be behind the camera or in front of it?
I prefer to be behind the camera as I think I take better pics than my husband! But every now and then I have to make sure I include myself in family pics as I don't want to regret not having enough pics of me and the boys.

6. Do you believe in karma?
I think I do. What is that saying?
Karma is only a bitch if you are!

7. Who is your celebrity crush?
Like most women these days I have a celeb crush on Ryan Gosling :)

8. Have you ever gone skinny dipping?
Only in the privacy of my own pool! But I do remember skinny dipping after a work Xmas party with about 8 other people, some were nude, some in undies (I kept mine on!) Lots of embarrassed faces on Monday! Priceless :)

9. How do you vent your anger?

I like to yell and maybe throw the occasional thing!
I do love boxing though, my husband won the NSW boxing title a few years ago so sometimes I tell him to get his pads and gloves out!

10. Do you have a collection of anything?
I collect coffee table books and vintage mirrors.

11. What is a sound you hate, sound you love?
I hate the sound of a tv left on with no one watching it (boys!). As soon as I turn it off someone will pop out of another room and say "Hey, I was watching that!"

The sweetest sound in the world is my loved ones saying I love you to me. We are a very lovey, dovey family with our 'I love you's'. I hope the boys always stay that way :)

Lately.

Here is what I have been up to lately.

We made a start on the baby's room.

Simon repainted the room white and we put up the cot and shelves. This meant a trip to Ikea for the Expedit shelves and Branas baskets. Just waiting on the chest of drawers we have ordered and then I can move onto the fun part of decorating!

After pulling down the Christmas decorations I felt that the house was looking a little "flat" so I decided to pop up some bunting, just because :)

We have been spending a lot of time at the beach but when we need a change of scenery we head home to play in the inflatable pool that we bought for Christmas Day for the the littlies to play in. Jasper loves it! He is spoilt for choice in pools!

Also with everyone at home, there is a constant stream to the kitchen. I have been baking a little to feed the hungry hordes. (Simon is the worst!) These Donna Hay brownies were a hit!

Simon is back to work today so we are slowly getting back to reality. Jasper is back to kindy next week and Finn back to school the week after so we will have a staggered finish to the holidays.

Some things I have noticed is that with everyone home the house is a constant mess with every room in the house being used and toys left out. For me this is so frustrating but I have managed to remain fairly relaxed about it and just do a clean up at the end of the day. I also realised that I miss having time to myself! I don't think I have been alone since the 10th December :)

Lazy days.

This is how I have been spending the last few days.

The sun, the sand and a drink in my hand.

My drink of choice at the moment is icy cold water with a splash of apple and raspberry cordial. Yum!

These lazy days are the perfect way to spend the last few days of Simon's holidays. I love having the four of us home together.

I had to share this pic of Jasper applying sunscreen to the baby before we went for a swim. It's a little blurry and was captured on my phone but it was so cute and one of those moments that just melts you!

This is the first Summer in a while that I have worn a bikini without the worry if my stomach was sticking out too much!

Happy New Year!

We spent New Years Eve at Manly to see the 9pm fireworks with the boys and my nieces and brother & sister in law.

It was beautiful weather and a lovely way to celebrate.

Of course the boys were in bed by midnight and Simon and I saw in the New Year in our pj's at home. Bliss :)

My year - 2011

As I look back over the past year I feel like it has just flown by!

I achieved so many things that I wanted to.

I started my own little business, this little blog got some recognition, Simon and I travelled to New York and the best of all we created a new little member of the family who is due at the end of March.

Usually I make resolutions on all I want to achieve in the New Year but his year I am bucking tradition and just "going with the flow".

I want to just enjoy the little things in life and soak in everything. I don't want to put any pressure on myself or the rest of the family.

So how about you? Are you making resolutions?

Our Christmas Day - 2011

We had a perfect Christmas Day, beautiful weather, wonderful family and friends and delicious food in abundance!

Who could ask for more?!

We had Christmas at home for 20 this year, I was exhausted by the end of the day but the day was all that I wanted it to be plus it won't be my turn to host for at least another 4 years :)

I was so happy to see blue skies for Christmas Day!

Afternoon Snooze.

Over the last week or so I have been having an afternoon snooze.

Not every day but there have been some days when my eyes just won't stay open from 2.30pm - 3.30pm.

I have been taking advantage of having Simon home on holidays and wandering off for a rest :) For some reason I never get under the covers and my pillows are always upright.

It is like I feel guilty if I get too comfortable!

Keep Calm it's only Christmas!

So are you enjoying the Christmas spirit?

Or are you stressing out with the thought of everything that still has to be done?!

I feel quite calm as all the presents are done but my stress will probably begin on Christmas Eve as I set the table for Christmas Day and try to do as much food prep as I can so I am not running around madly on the day.

Everyone is bringing something for lunch but mostly cold things eg either a salad, fruit platter or a dessert. My problem is trying to co-ordinate all the hot things to be ready on time. Think turkey, roast vegies etc. I had an issue one year where my roast potatoes just wouldn't cook! I think I had too many things shoved into the oven!

These are the times I wish I had a huge double oven and a massive fridge!

I think I will get started on this dessert a few days before Christmas. It's always a favourite and something I only make at Christmas :)

Also randomly I am pondering over which paper to use as place cards. It's the little things people! ;)

So are you stressed out yet?!

I know it is such a lot of work and thought for one day but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Beach days.

We're squeezing in another little holiday before Christmas.
The sun is shining and the water is so beautiful and warm.

The rush to get all the Christmas decorations done and the Christmas presents organised before we left was worth it.

As now I can relax and know that all I have to do when I get back is to fight the crowds and do the Christmas Food shop. Eeek!

Second guessing myself!

So I thought I had this Christmas shopping caper all wrapped up but now I am second guessing myself!

I keep wondering whether I have bought the boys enough?

Stupid I know, as I have struggled to buy them things as it is. As they REALLY don't NEED anything and haven't really asked for anything in particular. Although Jasper did ask for a real dinosaur and a toy one!

Finn is questioning me about Santa and whether he is real or not and counting the presents under the tree to see if there is an even amount for himself and Jasper. It's all getting a bit hard!

We usually lay the Santa sacks out on Christmas Eve and I always feel that they should be bulging but I don't think they will be this year. Simon thinks I have plenty but I will probably keep an eye out for things leading up until Christmas. Just in case!

Do you second guess yourself when it comes to buying Christmas presents?

Where is Summer?

I thought a Summer's night was supposed to look like this!

Warm, relaxing and taking advantage of the extra sunlight.

What is with all this rain we are having?!

I have packed away all of my winter clothes, (not that they fit me anymore) so I am finding getting dressed a little difficult! I am supposed to be swanning about in my maxi dresses!

Hopefully this means that Summer will stretch out a bit more to make up for it's horrendous start.

Decking the Halls - at home Christmas 2011

So we have had the tree and decorations up for a week or so now, our earliest ever!

I thought I would show you some pics of our home decorated.

When it came to our "Christmas Colours" this year I just couldn't decide on an accent colour so I stuck with green, silver and white.
Very fresh and simple but who know's I might still add a colour!

I just noticed it is coming away from the frame so Simon will have to fix that, otherwise I won't fit and will have to walk through sideways!

Also my friend Prancer keeping watch over my desk. Watch your eyes on the antlers! Jasper likes to give him a pat as he walks by :)

As we are hosting Christmas Day this area will be where we will have lunch, set for 20 so I have a few ideas for the table decorations too.

All the ornaments are white and silver this year.

It's nice to have a change :)

So there you have it our Christmas Decorations for 2011. I usually use the same pieces for a few years with a few new ornaments added each year. The garlands are a new addition this year and I am looking forward to using them for years to come. I ordered them online and I'm so happy with them.

Our Sunday.

We had a beautiful day yesterday surrounded by family and beautiful weather. There's nothing like a week of rain to make you appreciate the sunshine!

We spent the day at my sister in law's parents house and had a Moroccan feast of epic proportions! It is not every day that you have a 3 course lunch, it was divine!

1st course, delish lentil salad, tomato salad, cucumber salad, carrot and a spicy eggplant dish.

2nd course was a Moroccan lamb, a Moroccan chicken dish, cous cous, curried cabbage and vegetables

Yummo!

Dessert was a selection of homemade icecreams including strawberry icecream with coulis and a rosewater and pistachio icecream. I forgot to get a photo of this!

It was such a feast and so lovely to just sit and relax.

It turned into a lunch that became an oops is that the time, we should be getting home to get the kids to bed!

I thought I'd love it but.......

I read an article by Bec at Mama Mia the other day about things that you thought you would love but when you actually try them they never live up to your expectations. This happens to me so often, I get excited about a product, a movie, a restaurant or a shop and when I finally try it , it's all a bit meh!

Here are some examples of things I have found distinctly average!

* Mad Men - I found this depressing, a little slow and even the clothes couldn't keep me watching!

*Zara/Topshop - heaps of hype but to me the clothes were kinda boring and cheap looking. Maybe I caught them on a bad week?

* Robert Pattison - I can't see the appeal here ladies! He is a bit weak and wimpy looking for me. Team Jacob all the way ;)

*Cottage Cheese - it's supposed to be healthy and "lovely" on crackers or as a dip with crudites but I just can't develop a taste for it!

*Eat/Pray/Love - the book and the movie! I felt like the author was selfish and ungrateful and looking to others to fulfil her, instead of taking control of her own happiness. I persisted in finishing the book but at the end threw it away. I don't know why I saw the movie, maybe I was swayed by all the talk of great scenery shots!

*Sales - Boxing Day or otherwise - full of stuff that the shops couldn't sell throughout the year and all the good stuff you had your eye on a week ago has been packed away! Also I can't stand the crowds! I must be getting old :)

*Laksa - I see people slurping away and talking about the little restaurant down the road that makes the "best" Laksa but I can't stand the taste or the smell. Blurgh!

*DIY fake tan - no matter how easy it is supposed to be to apply it, I CAN'T DO IT! I follow the steps, I exfoliate etc and I've tried aerosols, creams, mousse but I always get a patchy, orangey hue. I now stick to spray tans done professionally or a moisturiser with a gradual tan included.

*Herbal teas - they sound yummy with delightful names but they all taste horrible to me. I wish I could sip on a peppermint tea after a big dinner or share a pot of lemongrass & ginger tea with Simon but I still haven't found what I'm looking for. Any suggestions?

So how about you? Anything you agree with on the list?
What did you think that you would love but found a bit disappointing?

Wrapped up!

I'm starting some of my Christmas Shopping today and it got me thinking about how I will wrap my pressies this year.

I always try to co-ordinate my wrapping to my tree and house ( I'm one of those people!) Here are a few ideas I came across that I like.

Are you like me and love to wrap the pressies and make them pretty? Or is it a chore to be completed as fast as possible?!

We set the Christmas tree up on the weekend.

The boys were so excited and I let them help put the decorations on themselves without rearranging them! They did a fabulous job and I will take a few pictures this week when I have the rest of the decorations up :)

Peekaboo with baby,some nursery ideas & Christmas decorations.

I had my 20 week scan today (a week or so late) and got to see my baby boy :) He is showing a stubborn streak already and wouldn't co-operate with moving into the correct positions so I am back on Tuesday for a couple more pics. Everything looks perfect and healthy so far which is fabulous and I don't really mind going back as I'm hoping to see his face :)

I've also started thinking of some nursery ideas. I'm thinking neutral. Maybe white and grey with a splash of red.

Other nursery ideas include

*grey and white stripes on one wall

*baby's name on the wall in red

*the alphabet on the wall in wooden letters in different fonts. Red I think.

*All the furniture will be white. I'm only really having the cot, drawers that will double as a change table and some kind of shelving unit for toys,books etc.

I already bought this sign from Alfresco Emporium so it has to fit in somewhere!

I couldn't find any pics I liked of nurserys on the net so might have to create my own little mood board :)

I'm just thinking of ideas at the moment and won't really start on the baby's room until next year after the Christmas and NY season has been done.

Speaking of which, I think I am going to set up our Christmas tree and decorations this weekend. It is EARLY I know, but I'm really feeling the Christmas spirit and the boys are so excited about it!I finally settled on the important( ;P ) decision of my "Christmas Colours" and I decided on green,white and silver. So suffice to say my yellow cushions now won't work and I had to pull out my green cushions etc, which included purchasing a new cushion for my armchair. I chose this Palm Tree one. Very summery!

My garlands that I ordered online arrived and I am happy to say that they are exactly as I wanted! So I should have some pics to share on Monday with you all.

We had a fabulous time in Byron this week, we stayed in a house near The Pass owned by the National Parks. It turned into a bit of a boys trip with our friend Alex and his son coming to stay for a few days of surfing. I was just the photographer along for the ride to document everything :)

My bump and my online shopping splurge!

Here is a pic of my bump at 20 weeks. I'm hoping it's expansion slows down soon! Who am I kidding?! I got huge with both the boys and they were both 9lbs 1 ounce each (4kgs)!

So I am still SQUEEZING into my regular jeans and plan on living in my maxi dresses from last Summer but I finally bit the bullet and purchased some maternity wear :) Despite me complaining about online shopping here.

I've been pleasantly surprised, everything fits beautifully and is wonderful quality :)

Well, all of my magazine subscriptions have come at once plus a couple of mags picked up from the shops. Luckily we are heading to Byron Bay tomorrow night so I can read them all!

I couldn't resist diving into the Inside Out though, Mark and Luella Tuckey's house is on the front cover and it is to die for! Situated in Clareville on the water , the house looks beautiful and homey. I could move in tomorrow.

Our Halloween.

We had a very last minute Halloween here :) This included driving to the bargain shop after school pick up and rummaging through the masks with the other hordes of last minute halloween shoppers.

Jasper was very enthusiastic in the shop but wouldn't don his costume for trick or treating. The best he would do was a headband.

But he LOVED the idea of knocking on a door and getting lollies. He is quite shy so the fact he had the confidence to do this was fantastic.

We started off at a friends place and then just did the one street. I couldn't believe all the kids that were out trick or treating. It was quite a fun atmosphere. I'm sure over the next few years Halloween is just going to get bigger and bigger in Australia.

Sunday - Whose job is it?

We all have our jobs around here. I love that on a Sunday morning it is just "known" that Simon will be the one to go out and get the papers and a coffee while I wait at home. Also taking the rubbish out is his domain too.

Saturday Night.

This is how we spent our Saturday night, setting up a train set :)

Simon's parents have sold their home and are moving into a unit near the beach. They are in the process of packing up their house so we are inheriting lots of toys they bought for the grandkids but will no longer have room for.

Finn used to play with this train set when he was younger and now it's Jasper's turn and then we will pack it away ready for the new baby.

I love the idea of keeping toys in the family.

(not that it usually happens around here, too many broken toys, missing game pieces)

Some random things about me lately :)

I just thought I would share some random things about myself that I have been doing lately :)

1. For the last few days I have been having cheese and mustard pickles on a wholemeal roll. Just delish!

2. We are off on another holiday on Friday, we are taking the boys this time and spending a week in Byron Bay. Wishing for warm weather!

3. I haven't caught up with friends in ages. With feeling sick for the first 3 months of pregnancy and the NY trip, I have been absent. Note to self, book in some coffee catch ups :)

4. I feel a bit guilty for neglecting my blog lately. It used to be a real "obsession" but recently I have been struggling with Bloggers Block. I don't want to stop, I will have to just try and blog through it.

5. My husband's singing drives me nuts! He thinks he has a fabulous voice and is always singing. If it was just normal warbling that would be ok but he is always stretching out notes and doing "verbal gymnastics". I don't tell him this drives me crazy :)

6. I'm feeling a bit restless in regards to the house. I want to repaint, lay floorboards instead of our tiles and maybe repaint/revarnish the furniture.

7. We recently bought a new car. We decided on a Mazda CX9, its black and I am still nervous driving it. I don't want to be the person that causes the first scratch on it!

8. I really have to get my act into gear with planning my mums bday party in a few weeks and I'm also hosting Christmas this year. So I want to start getting organised. I can't wait for Christmas this year :)

9. I keep collecting pictures of sparkly diamond rings lately. Maybe I am just researching for a future present?!

10. Everything I have bought online lately, from clothes to a quilt cover has been really disappointing. I have ended up returning it all. For me there is no substitute for a wander around the shops and seeing the "goods" in real life.

So there you go, some random things I have been doing lately :)

A pregnancy journal

So far this pregnancy I have been a little slack in recording the little things.

You know - How the bump is growing? What foods I am craving? Considering I had a pregnancy book for the boys I really have to do one this time around :)

I love these ideas and would love to do something similar.

I'll post a pic of my bump soon. I'm now 18wks.

Honey I'm Home - New York part 2

So here is the remainder of my diary from the New York trip :)

Day 4 - We had an easy day planned today (I needed it!) so we headed down the end of our street to Central Park. That place is huge! It seemed to be a great place to catch up with a friend for a walk. We wandered around the Jackie Onassis Resourvier, Betheseda Fountain, the lake and The Boathouse. Stopping for cheesey shots along the way :) We then went to a deli to pick up a few pieces for lunch and I had a delicious slice of New York cheesecake. We had a quiet afternoon as we were both exhausted after the last few days and my legs were killing me! I think I have exercised more in the last few days than I have in the last few months.

Day 5 - Simon got up at 4am to go to a bar to watch the Wallabies game (they lost badly!), I stayed asleep :) Another day of wandering around, we saw a couple of movies including the new George Clooney movie The Decendents, which was showing at the Lincoln Centre's NY Film Festival. George Clooney was at the screening and did a little blurb onstage.We are heading home tomorrow and I must admit I am ready. I miss the boys and I feel like I have truly seen New York plus I am exhausted!

Day 6 - a sleep in, breakfast then head to the Airport. We're going home!

Overall it was a wonderful time away with Simon,I truly saw everything I wanted to. We didn't do the usual tourist sites such as the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty etc as we had done them before on a previous trip. I also didn't really want to see Ground Zero as it felt a little morbid/eerie.

The shopping was cheap but I found myself not that interested except with fragile crockery and extremely heavy coffee table books! I was very sensible and really weighed up whether I needed them or not. Really strange of me!

I had the most wonderful welcome from Jasper at the airport, (he came with his grandad to pick us up, Finn was at school) he just hugged me and hugged me and the happiness on his face brought tears to my eyes. The same happened with Finn that afternoon. I missed them so much and I know that they missed me.

We all slept in the same bed that night! Not an overly comfortable "welcome home" sleep but I wouldn't of had it any other way :)

But reality doesn't take long to set in, washing to be done, cleaning waiting for me, a bday pressie to buy for a party on the weekend. Ahhhhh bliss, there's no place like home!

Honey I'm Home - New York part 1

I'm back from an amazing 5 days in New York. It was a fantastic time and we crammed so much in it was a little exhausting! I made notes at the end of each day so I could remember all the places we had seen and the streets we had walked and the food we had eaten! I really didn't eat that much considering the lists of places I had written down to try, the baby was craving plain food but Simon made up for it by gaining 2 kgs in 5 days! Although the lucky thing will lose it in a week as soon as he starts eating normally again.

Day 1 -Finally after the endless journey to get to New York, we arrived at 7pm to our hotel, The Surrey. Thank goodness it met all our expectations! It was absolutely beautiful. We had dinner at a local restaurant Seraphina, Simon had a pizza and I must have had the world's largest chicken breast and vegies. Just the beginning of a few humongous meals! Bed time as we were zonked!

Day 2 - Jetlagged! Woke up at 3.30am, decided to call the boys to let them know we had arrived, watched some tv and eventually went back to sleep for a few hours. A room service breakfast and then a shower with the most intense shower pressure ever. Lets just say the spray was invigorating! We then caught a cab to Soho, I was scared in every cab ride we took. The drivers were all maniacs. They all drove too fast and swapped lanes carelessly! I don't think I had one ride where I felt safe! We wandered down streets with lots of shops including Anthropologie. We got Finn some of the Vans shoes he couldn't get at home and Simon got a couple of pairs of shoes too. I looked but nothing really grabbed me. Maybe it is being pregnant but all the clothes were a bit ho hum to me. I had money to burn and couldn't find anything I liked :) We stopped for snacks at Dean and Deluca, gourmet indulgence at its best! We decided to just walk in the direction of our hotel and see how far we could go before we got too tired. Stopped for lunch at a cafe where a toasted sandwich was an extravaganza with all the trimming and a massive serve of fries. Passed the Flatiron Building, Madison Ave, popped into Trump Tower (Simon's one time idol), and of course I had to have a browse in Tiffany and Co. We had a little rest near the Plaza Hotel, it looks a lot smaller in real life! The streets were bustling and very New York! We then wandered over to Central Park and did the very touristy carriage ride. We must have had the chattiest driver ever, Simon was interested in his patter but I just wanted to enjoy the view! We then walked back to the Surrey Hotel and collapsed! I calculated we had walked 91 blocks and that wasn't counting going up and down some of them. We had left the hotel at 10am that morning and walked until 6pm that night! I ended up having a 5 hour snooze and woke up at midnight starving. Simon went looking for the pizza place he went to 10 years ago(!)and brought back the sausage pizza he had been raving about ever since.

Day 3 - We decided to explore the West Village today and caught a cab to Bleeker St, saw the Magnolia Bakery but didn't feel like a cupcake. We walked down Perry St (where all SATC fans will know that Carries apartment stoop was shot here). "Carrie's" stoop was a bit grotty and chained off so we took a pic on the one next to it. So much nicer. It was a gorgeous area with a lovely homely feel to it. I could definately live there :) We then headed to the Meat Packing District, and walked the cobblestone streets to the High Line. This is a disused railway track that has been turned into a park/walkway. Lovely to have a bit of greenery in that urban landscape. Caught a cab to Grand Central Station for a wander and a late lunch. I had the most delicious vegie soup ever! We then walked over to Rockefeller Centre for a look at the Moma store and a few others. We then ventured into Times Square. Absolute chaos! Bright lights, crowds of people, tacky and over the top but a must see :) We headed back towards the hotel and detoured via the toy shop FAO Schwartz. The boys would have loved it! Highlights were the Barbie Foosball table for $25k and of course the giant piano from the movie Big. Of course Simon had to have a go, which I recorded for the boys. It was hilarious! We HAD to wander through the "candy" section on the way out and marvelled at the size of all the lollies! We had to buy the boys some rock candy and giant gummy bears. So much fun stuff there!

We headed to the hotel for dinner and a rest. We decided to have a late night treat at Serendipity (remember the movie?). Simon had the Strawberry Fields - an extravaganza of cheesecake, icecream, cream and strawberries and I had their signature Frozen Hot Chocolate which was to die for!

New York, New York.

Simon and I are off to New York today.

I can't believe it. So excited!!!

Thank you for all your wonderful tips and recommendations on places to go.

I have been making notes on the places I want to see but haven't got a set plan in place.

I kind of don't want to get locked into anything and just want to wander and soak up everything.Although Simon might have other ideas!

I have divided my lists into shopping, places to visit and food! I'm a little worried that the food and restaurants to try outnumber everything else!

Hopefully all the walking we will be doing burns it off :)

We had visions of sharing cocktails here but I'm sure my "mocktail" will be just as good :)

Baby no. 3 is a .............BOY!

So we shared the news with the grandparents on the weekend so now I can share our exciting news with you :)

Baby no. 3 is going to be A BOY!

The boys are over the moon and I have to admit another boy just "feels right."

I guess I know what to expect with boys and I have many more years of thomas the tank engine, soccer, skateboards, football and surfing ahead of me to look forward to :)

I must admit I had an inkling it would be another boy as my morning sickness was the exact same with Finn and Jasper and I am starting to turn the same pregnancy "shape". There was also no denying it on the ultrasound pic!

So there it is, my exciting news.

I am going to be the mum of 3 boys!

Pink or Blue?

Pink or Blue? Boy or Girl?

I actually found out yesterday!

It is a little earlier than usual to find out but my obstetrician does a quick ultrasound at each appointment and yesterday baby was in the perfect position for us to find out!

It was a beautiful moment as both boys were with me (school holidays) and Simon of course. There were a few tears of joy as it all became real and the excitement on the boys faces was just gorgeous :)

So I am bursting to tell you but........... I have to share it with the grandparents first :)

That was a bit of a tease wasn't it but I will share it with you next week!

Leaving on a jet plane...

It just hit me that this time next week I will be flying my way to New York!

I'm so excited but haven't really thought too much about it. Time to get organised I think!

I will pop up a post in a few days about all the things I am hoping to do.

I seem to have that John Denver's song "Leaving on a jet plane" and of course Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" doing a rotating in my head as my mental sound track this week!

Time flies!

So we are almost at the end of the first week of the school holidays. The time has flown!

Here is how we spent our week -

Monday & Tuesday - we spent it at Palm Beach watching Finn surf in the BL's Blastoff surf contest.

I wish I could say it was a sunny and lovely day on the beach but it was so cold and windy!

The fish and chips for lunch was a highlight. Yum!

Wednesday - a catch up with friends and a trip to the movies. We watched The Smurfs. A little scarier than I thought (for Jasper at least). I forgot how ugly and mean Gargamel was!

Thursday- the morning was spent with Jasper in hospital receiving his 3rd set of grommets. I thought the glue ear would have disappeared by now! He was a trouper, and the afternoon was spent taking it easy on the lounge, watching tv and having lots of cuddles.

Today we are just pottering, with a trip to Woolies probably being the highlight! The boys seem to double their appetites during the school holidays (hence the pic of the kitchen above! I'm spending a lot of time there!) Finn has requested we make a Mars Bar slice this afternoon. Ok, you twisted my arm ;)

Simon and I are also taking a couple of cars out for a test drive this afternoon. New baby coming, new car needed!

We'll be catching up with family over the weekend and Finn's beloved Sea Eagles will be playing in the Grand Final on Sunday. Go Manly! Monday is a public holiday, lets hope the weather gets a bit warmer so we can do something nice.

Do you have any exciting plans?

I think we will just potter around tomorrow , no specific place to be. We have a family lunch on Sunday to celebrate my mother in laws & my sister in laws birthdays.

The boys have gone out to the football tonight to watch the Manly/Brisbane game. Fingers crossed Manly win or I will have one devastated 9 year old! All these boys are obviously getting to me as I'm finding myself actually INTERESTED in who wins!

Also the school holidays have started so I will pop in and out when I can :)
