So with ours we stained them with 50% strength walnut and satin varnish. They are perfect. Some days I think I could have gone a bit darker with them, but thankful I didn't because you can see the DUST and scratches easy. Also glad I went satin and not gloss, because with gloss you can see foot prints.
http://lasscreative.com.au/blog/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626396245087856262.post-6004694254913190002012-07-20T19:20:46.508+10:002012-07-20T19:20:46.508+10:00Oh that's good to hear Karla, what do you clea...Oh that's good to hear Karla, what do you clean them with? xxSimone - honeyandfizzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13262417401953983884noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626396245087856262.post-14613757259040064392012-07-20T19:19:43.810+10:002012-07-20T19:19:43.810+10:00I think in a way we will appreciate the reno's...I think in a way we will appreciate the reno's even more since we have waited. But like yourselves, we are a little stretched right now, as we only purchased our place 2.5 years ago. I long for the day we can update everything to the look we really want... few more years yet though.
In saying that, I do love our floorboards. They're a dark timber. But the tiles in the kitchen aren't so great, would like to get rid of those. And the carpet upstairs has to go eventually too.
I also like the white walls look... unfortunately the owners before us painted a dark salmon coloured feature wall in the living and dining areas... I've never really taken to it.
xoAll For Lovehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13151973819133926868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626396245087856262.post-7689679122814819992012-07-17T18:47:26.128+10:002012-07-17T18:47:26.128+10:00Floor boards are so much better then tiles. We have them all through our little terrace and whilst they do build up the dust (probably from the dog walking in and out all day), they look amazing and are so easy to sweep or vacuum.Rhiannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05565266826932913447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626396245087856262.post-36188520413394986762012-07-17T12:40:21.766+10:002012-07-17T12:40:21.766+10:00Dark floors and crisp white walls looks devine, ca...Dark floors and crisp white walls looks devine, cant wait to see what you do with the place
I have original jarrah floor boards, that we restored when we ripped out the ghastly green carpet they were hiding behind. I dont find them hard to keep clean I use one of those soft mop brooms once a week (if that!) and give them a mop with timber cleaner and hot water about once every 3 weeks (if that!). P.S. I hate cleaning :)Michelle {Jarrah Jungle}https://www.blogger.com/profile/06787886183163179543noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626396245087856262.post-1140049951814364122012-07-17T12:27:11.927+10:002012-07-17T12:27:11.927+10:00We have a Masterton home with a pale polished porc...We have a Masterton home with a pale polished porcelain tile floor ( which is lovely but freezing) but my dream floor is the dark timber! I'm of the opinion that NO floor is easy to keep clean, especially when there are little people around! I already vacuum once a day, so whether it's this house or our next house, I won't be talked out of a dark timber either!Averilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15645948528323433452noreply@blogger.com
