On our walls.... decorating at home.

With so many walls in the house it can sometimes be a challenge to think of how to decorate them all.
A few years ago I was all about family photos everywhere but now my taste has changed and I wanted to add some more colour and interest.

I've collated a few images of our walls at home. Everything is easily removed and I do sometimes mix it up and change the positions on things when I need a change. 3M hooks and picture strips are my friends! Plus a husband who is good at hanging things straight :)

I love the look of white frames on white, typography and walls of books and knick knacks. Cute, colourful prints and maps, tea towels framed, a bus roll, mirrors, and a deer head. I love my Lovestar vase that attaches to the wall and our letters that spell out our initials. Clipboards holding pages from a magazine, stop posters from cluttering the wall and a gallery of multi photo frames lets me display favourite memories.

I buy most of my prints on Etsy and if I can't find exactly what I want, I make it myself. Also my lightbox gives me endless possiblities to decorate with different messages.

My lastest purchase on the weekend was this artwork from Freedom.

I had gone back to look at it countless times but I'm so glad I bought it as it really finishes off the space and adds gorgeous colour. Dare I say it? I think I'm done decorating.....for now :)

How do you decorate your walls?

  1. I adore your home it looks so colourful and lived in. Im slowly adding things to the walls and a big fan of typography and have purchased 2 artworks from Etsy so far and attempted to make my own to frame as well. I plan on having an art wall in my kitchen (once Iv finished renovating it) with clocks, typography, art and all the things I love in the once place. Now just to convince my other half that drilling all those holes in the freshly painted walls is a good thing :)

    1. Thanks so much Michelle, yes Etsy is so cheap and cheerful. You don't really have to spend a lot. My husband has banned me from drilling holes in the wall due to my penchant for moving things around. 3M hooks are the go although the mirrors are drilled in and staying where they are!! xx

  2. I absolutely love everything. WOuld you like to come and decorate my plain and bring home. I need some character. I just need to paint the house first and get rid of the clotted cream walls to a fresh and vibrant white. You have inspired me. Thank you. x

  3. Whoa! You have the most beautiful style Simone. I really need your expertise to come to my place and sort my walls out... because I am HOPELESS when it comes to decorating walls. I have so many ideas, but none of them ever come to fruition... probably for the best too, as they wouldn't turn out near as nice as yours. Great tips on the removable hooks etc... saves having to do touch up paint jobs. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous home with us xo

    1. Thanks so much Abbey. The dining room is pretty simple but that mirror and chandelier are such feature pieces they make the room, and I know I will have them forever xx,

I love all your pops of colour. I have an idea for a photo shelving wall.....with all black and white photos in black frames, with pops of colour somehow.....I'll let you know how I go. lol.

  7. Your home is absolutely gorgeous, Simone! We're almost ready to move in to our new home that we have been building. I am daunted by the task of decorating the place! I started to collect some frames to fill with photos but I also would love to use some gorgeous prints as well. I think I'm going to have to tackle the place one room at a time, though I know that the space will constantly evolve and change!

  8. You have beautifully decorated walls Simone. The look fab. I'd love one of those heart vases one day. We have a lots of blank walls, mostly because our budget doesn't allow for much, but I do have some small prints I must frame and get up.

    1. Thanks so much Sarah, yes I had been looking at the heart vases forever and bit the bullet. This is the smallest one and fits there beautifully. Even looks great without flowers :) I think it takes time to pull it all together. You could always get some of your beautiful photos blown up. I always love your vignettes and flowers on Instagram xx

Do you happen to have the links to the prints you purchased through Etsy? I especially love the 3 prints you have above the desk, 'make today ridiculously amazing' and 'Life is for deep kisses ...'
