Noah - 5 months

Our gorgeous boy is 5 months old today.

This last month has been a lot of fun as Noah has found his voice. He is screeching and laughing and holding wonderful conversations ;) It is heartmelting stuff. I find myself talking to Noah in "that" squeaky singsong voice and I laugh when I hear Jasper and Finn doing the same. I have  captured a bit on video which is cute to have.

We started solids last month and we have introduced a few more tastes but some days he will eat more than others. Some days he is not fussed and just happy with his milk. I am still breastfeeding Noah which I love although he has been testing out his gums and biting action. Ouch! At the moment he is refusing a bottle so it is all me, all the time! All my boys have done this, history repeating itself.

Noah is rolling from his tummy to his back sometimes. He does still like his playmat although he prefers to be sitting up in his bouncer so he can see everything. He doesn't really like the Bumbo.I don't know if his chubby legs are getting squished or it is just the position? (I had heard the Bumbos were being recalled for safety reasons, I always am in sight and reach of Noah at  all times as I can see how a baby could come out of them). I will keep it and see if he likes it more in the coming months.  He is also trying to sit up and reach for things. So cool to watch these skills develop, it certainly is just as special and exciting third time around. Noah is also starting to bear weight on his legs. You have got to love a baby standing on your lap!

I've noticed that he is growing out of some 000's and some brands 00's. I haven't bought that many clothes for him as he is growing so fast so I buy a few things and wear them to death and then buy new things in a bigger size. I can't wait for the warmer weather when I don't have to rug him up as much. I haven't weighed or measured him for a while as you can get obsessed by the charts but he is looking deliciously healthy to me :)

He has been a trouper throughout our renovations. He slept perfectly in the Portacot when we had to move out and has slept through various tradesmens nail guns and saws. Although his night time sleep is a little erratic. Some nights he'll wake once, some twice but he always goes back to sleep quite easily. Hopefully once life and home is quiet and finished we will be able to work on this "sleeping through" business.

Noah doesn't have any teeth but I can see about 4 white bumps under his gums and he had a few days where he was a bit whingey with a slight temp. We are having lots of dribble and toys getting chomped on. Nothing majorly distressing yet. Has anyone used the Amber teething necklaces? Did you find they worked?

All in all we are just cruising along. I feel like life is just flying by though! I keep waiting for things to slow down but who knows when that will be?! I have Noah's christening planned for a couple of months time, so once the house is finished that will be my next project.

It is so lovely to have this blog where I can record all of my life's little milestones. That is why even when life is hectic and I don't post as often I don't think I could give up blogging.
How about you? How have you all been?

Simone xx

  1. Oh, he's just perfect Simone. Wow...5 months already??!!!
Ryder was not a fan of the Bumbo at first either, and I think it was because his chubby thighs were getting squashed, causing his posture to sink. But now that he's thinnned out {only ever so slightly} he will sit in sometimes....but I only really use it out at the washing line, as it's concrete, not grass. So he sits in it while I'm hanging out washing. But that's about it. He can almost arch out of it though, so I could see how they could be a dangerous 'tool' for babies...espceially if used up high on a bench or unsupervised.
Noah is such a cruisey baby. Love him.

    1. Thanks Claire , he is so cruisey, it will be interesting to see if his personality changes as he gets older! The Bumbo is great as it is so lightweight, will keep it and see how we go. So funny we both have boys with chubby thighs! Ryder is such a cutie xx

  3. What a lovely post! I keep meaning to write some posts like this to document where we are at with the boys but life is moving too fast right now to find time (ironic!). Noah sounds like a lovely boy!

    1. Thanks Lauren, yes I think it will be nice to look back on these posts. I have been keeping notes of Noah's little "milestones" on my phone as they happen. Makes it so easier to look back on at the end of the month! Feel like I really have to keep up my game on all the baby books and posts as I don't want him to have "3rd child syndrome" ;) Hope your boys are going well xx

  4. Oh lovely, Noah is a cutie, sounds like such a laid back baby which is probably due to older siblings? I am glad you are enjoying this time, it is a great age.x

    1. Thanks Karla, yes I think he knows he has to be laidback and fall into line! Everyone has been saying the 3rd child is pretty easy going and as the boys are older and more self sufficient things have been pretty easy. Although everytime I write this I'm worried about jinxing myself! xx

  5. Oh Simone, Noah sounds like an absolute delight. What a good boy to behave through your reno's, that is one thing that scares me about renovating our place...disruption to the boys. Beautiful photo of your boys up there also. What a blessing he has been to your lives xoxo

  6. Thanks Julie, yes he is truly a blessing :) I think I was more affected from the renos than the boys were as the mess was driving me crazy and I felt a bit out of control and unsettled. Made me realise how much I need my home to be organise and clean. They're always more work than you think but totally worth it in the end. We are still not finished yet, all those little things still to go. Yes love this pic and how Noah is looking at Simon xx

  8. Aw, he is a gorgeous little boy.
My little man is four months now and has certainly found his voice. You can't shut him up this days. Luckily most of the time it's cute, no so keen on the guzzling, And he's also not a fan of the bumbo which is strange as he loves siting upright in othe places. I'm just glad he's using my daughter's old one and we didn't fork out for a new one.

  9. How fast the time has flown. Sounds like Noah is a little gem. Well done guys. I had the Amber teething necklace for Jarvis... mmm not sure it did much... but it looked pretty funky on him :-). Enjoy the quieter times once renos are complete. Much love xx

  10. Oh he's so scrummy!! Look at that face, gorgeous.
My boy chomped down on my nipples like none of the girls, quite a surprise. He never bit me, just liked to chew. I fed him for 2 years, by that stage he had become a bit handsy in public & to my horror, i wouldn't realise he had his hands down my top, oh dear, clearly a future boob man!!
Is starting solids early for 4-5 months?? I didn't start until 6 months for my 4, i just found breastfeeding so easy & they slept 12 hours at night, spooning in food was more effort & cleaning up, especially the twins - including one who liked to take food out of her mouth & smear it in her hair, face, high chair, clothes, twin sister - that was enough to put me off starting solids at all!! They turned out to be the least fussy eaters, thank goodness. I fed them foods i didn't even like, brussell sprouts, eggplant, zucchinis, they ate it all.
Now get back to pinching those cheeks, love Posie

  11. Thanks Jennie, yes I remember Finn used to have "wandering hands". A few embarrassing moments there :) I think the solids can start from either 4 months or 6 months. All clinic nurses seem to give different advice. We are following the Tizzie Hall routine "Save our Sleep" and she recommends 4 mths. We did the routine with Jasper and it worked a dream for us and seems to be the same this time round. Yes I offer the kids food I don't eat myself but just realised they don't eat tomato as Simon and I don't! xx

  13. Oh I love this post! he is so cute! emerson is just 7 weeks today but I love reading what noah is doing as it gives me something to look forward to. Oh I'm feeding around the clock but he does take a bottle which is nice for me!

I'll have to email you to find out who did your floors as I don't want to use the same company we did at our old house:)

  14. My goodness, 5 months!! That top photo is so precious, Noah is adorable!! Such a cute age from this point onwards. Sophie had a Bumbo (and also had chubby legs!) and she used it a little bit in the early days when she was desperate to be sitting next to Grace playing on the floor next to her. However, she arched and got herself out twice and then I had to stop using it :)
